How to Use Carly Over Text: Schedule, Cancel, and Check Your Day from Your Phone
Sometimes you’re on the go and don’t want to open your email or calendar app. That’s where Carly’s text/SMS feature comes in — manage your calendar with a quick text message, just like you’d message a friend.
Setting It Up
- Go to your Carly dashboard
- Navigate to Settings
- Add your phone number
- You’ll get a confirmation text from Carly
That’s it. Now you can text Carly anytime.
What You Can Do Over Text
Check Your Schedule
You: What’s on my calendar today?
Carly: You have 3 meetings today:
9:00 AM — Team standup (Google Meet)
11:00 AM — Call with Alex (Zoom)
2:00 PM — Product review (Conf Room A)
You’re free 12–2 PM and after 3 PM.
You: What does tomorrow look like?
Carly: Tomorrow (Thursday) you have 2 meetings:
10:00 AM — Design review with Jamie (Zoom)
3:00 PM — 1:1 with Sarah (Google Meet)
You’re mostly free — 5+ hours open.
Schedule a Meeting
You: Schedule a 30 min call with rachel@partnerco.com next week
Carly: On it! I’ll reach out to Rachel with some times that work on your calendar. I’ll let you know when it’s confirmed.
Carly sends Rachel an email, handles the back-and-forth, and texts you when it’s booked:
Carly: Meeting confirmed! Call with Rachel — Tuesday, March 4 at 2:00 PM EST. Calendar invite sent.
Cancel or Reschedule
You: Cancel my 2pm meeting today
Carly: I’ve cancelled “Product review” at 2:00 PM today and notified the attendees.
You: Move my call with Alex to Thursday at 3pm
Carly: Done! I’ve rescheduled your call with Alex to Thursday, March 6 at 3:00 PM EST. Updated calendar invites sent.
Block Time
You: Block 12-1pm tomorrow for lunch
Carly: Done! I’ve blocked 12:00–1:00 PM tomorrow (Thursday) for lunch on your calendar.
Quick Questions
You: When am I free on Friday?
Carly: You’re free Friday:
9:00–10:30 AM
11:30 AM–1:00 PM
3:00–5:00 PM
You: How many meetings do I have this week?
Carly: You have 14 meetings this week. Busiest day is Wednesday (5 meetings).
The Screenshot Feature
This one’s a hidden gem. If someone texts you event details — a party invite, a conference flyer, a screenshot of dinner plans — you can forward that screenshot to Carly and she’ll pull out the details and add it to your calendar.
Example: Your friend texts you a screenshot of a concert listing:
You: [sends screenshot of concert listing showing “Jazz at Lincoln Center, March 15, 8:00 PM, doors at 7:30”]
Carly: I see an event! Here’s what I found:
Jazz at Lincoln Center Saturday, March 15 at 8:00 PM Doors at 7:30 PM
Want me to add this to your calendar?
You: Yes
Carly: Added! “Jazz at Lincoln Center” on Saturday, March 15 at 7:30 PM (arrival) — 10:00 PM on your calendar.
It works with screenshots of text conversations, event flyers, restaurant reservations, and more.
Text vs. Email: When to Use Each
| Use Text When… | Use Email When… |
|---|---|
| Checking your schedule on the go | Scheduling with someone else (CC flow) |
| Quick changes (cancel, reschedule) | Group scheduling with polls |
| Blocking personal time | Detailed meeting requests with context |
| Forwarding screenshots of events | Sending your preferences to Carly |
They both work — text is just faster for quick, personal calendar tasks.
Pro Tips
Be casual. Text Carly like you’d text a friend. All of these work:
- “What’s today look like”
- “Am I free at 3”
- “Cancel my next meeting”
- “Block Friday afternoon”
Use it for reminders. Text Carly something like:
Remind me about the proposal deadline tomorrow at 9am
Carly: Got it! I’ll remind you tomorrow at 9:00 AM about the proposal deadline.
Chain requests. You can text multiple things:
Cancel my 2pm today and block that time for focus work instead
Carly: Done! I’ve cancelled “Product review” at 2:00 PM and blocked 2:00–3:00 PM as focus time.
