How to Block Someone on LinkedIn (2026)

Blocking on LinkedIn fully severs the connection — they can’t view your profile, message you, or see your activity, and you can’t see theirs. It’s silent (no notification is sent). Here’s how to block, what changes afterward, and how to undo it.

1. Block Someone (Desktop)

  1. Go to the profile of the person you want to block.
  2. Click the More button (below their headline, next to Message/Connect).
  3. Select Report / Block.
  4. Choose Block [Name].
  5. Read the prompt and click Block to confirm.

If you’re connected, blocking also removes the connection.

2. Block Someone (Mobile)

  1. Open the person’s profile in the app.
  2. Tap the More (⋯) button near the top of their profile.
  3. Tap Report / Block > Block.
  4. Confirm.

3. What Happens When You Block Someone

  • You can’t see each other’s profiles, posts, or activity.
  • They can’t message you or send a connection request.
  • Any existing connection is removed.
  • Endorsements and recommendations between you are withdrawn.
  • LinkedIn does not notify the person that they were blocked.
  • Shared group memberships still let you see each other’s group posts unless you also leave/manage the group.

4. Unblock Someone

You can unblock from your settings, but note you may need to wait 48 hours before re-blocking the same person:

  1. Click your Me icon > Settings & Privacy.
  2. Go to Visibility > Blocking.
  3. Find the person in your blocked list and click Unblock.
  4. Confirm.

Unblocking does not restore your previous connection — you’d have to reconnect.

5. Troubleshooting

Will they know I blocked them?

No. LinkedIn sends no notification. They’ll simply no longer find your profile or activity.

I can’t find the Block option

Open the More menu on their profile (not from search or a message). Block lives under Report / Block there.

I unblocked someone but we’re not connected anymore

Blocking removes the connection permanently. After unblocking, send a fresh connection request to reconnect.

Why can’t I re-block someone right away?

LinkedIn enforces a cooldown (around 48 hours) after unblocking before you can block the same person again.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.

Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.

On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
