The highest-value workflows start from events TeamUp already records:

Create an Application in the TeamUp business dashboard, select its permissions, and generate the M2M token. Keep separate applications for reporting and writes so the reporting job cannot alter customer or registration data.

OAuth is appropriate when building a product used by multiple TeamUp businesses. Direct authentication handles user passwords and requires TeamUp review; it is not the shortcut to use for a simple internal connector.

The API is conventional JSON over REST. Use the expand parameter to fetch related records efficiently and standard retry handling for busy periods.

Webhooks: significant events arrive as Feed Items

TeamUp creates Feed Items for significant account activity such as customer signups, class registrations, and payments. A webhook destination receives those items in HTTP POST requests.

The webhook guide documents a ten-second response window and up to five delivery attempts. Deliveries can arrive out of order. A safe receiver should:

  1. Return a 2xx quickly.
  2. Store the webhook ID and event before doing slow work.
  3. Ignore events it has already processed.
  4. Retrieve the current TeamUp record before making a consequential decision.

That last step protects against out-of-order updates. The event tells you to look; the current record tells you what is true now.
