Weave AI Receptionist: What It Does, Pricing and Reviews
Weave is the phone, texting and payments platform at the front desk of more than 40,000 healthcare practice locations, across dental, medical, optometry and veterinary. Its AI Receptionist answers calls and texts when your team is busy or closed, answers common questions and, on qualified dental practice software, books appointments straight into the schedule.
The quick answer: Weave’s AI Receptionist makes the most sense for practices already on Weave’s phones, or planning to switch, because it works inside Weave’s phone system, inbox and patient records. Automatic booking is limited to qualified dental practice management systems. Everyone else gets appointment requests for the team to schedule. Weave’s plans start from $199 a month, and it was taken private by Francisco Partners in October 2026.

What Weave’s AI Receptionist does
Weave’s AI Receptionist page and the ADA’s endorsement announcement describe the same core jobs:
- Answers calls 24/7 with a human-sounding voice, when the office is closed or every line is busy. You choose when calls route to it.
- Holds full text conversations, so a patient who texts at 10pm gets a real reply, and follows up on missed calls by text with a way to schedule.
- Answers common questions, day or night, by call or text.
- Books and reschedules appointments directly into the calendar, but only on qualified dental practice management systems.
- Captures appointment requests on every other setup, for your team to review and schedule.
- Creates follow-up tasks for your team after a conversation.
- Hands off to a person when a call needs one.
Two features are marked “coming soon” on Weave’s page: collecting payments over the phone and conversations in a patient’s own language. Check whether either is live before you count on it.
The strength is the platform around it. Every AI conversation lands in the same inbox as your team’s calls and texts, next to appointment requests, forms and invoices, and Weave’s call pop shows the patient’s record when the phone rings.
Where the AI came from
In May 2025, Weave agreed to buy TrueLark, an AI receptionist company that handled missed calls, texts and web chat for appointment-based businesses, including dental service organizations. The price was $35 million, $25 million in cash and $10 million in stock, and Weave’s CEO said the deal would “deliver a virtual assistant that helps practices fill more appointments.”
In March 2026, ADA Member Advantage endorsed Weave as its patient engagement platform after a vetting process, with discounts and extra training for ADA members.
Then in August 2026, Francisco Partners agreed to acquire Weave for $7.40 a share in cash. The deal, valued at about $650 million, closed on October 26, 2026. Weave keeps its name and its Lehi headquarters, and its stock no longer trades on the NYSE.
How Weave pricing works
Weave publishes a starting price but not plan prices. Its pricing page says plans start from $199 a month, then lists three tiers, Pro, Elite and Ultimate, each behind a “get pricing” button. Higher tiers add more bulk texts (1,500, 3,000 or 15,000 a month), more phones and training, and features like insurance verification and practice analytics for dental offices.
AI Receptionist doesn’t have a separate public price. In November 2026, Weave’s site advertised early access with 25% off for the rest of the year. Ask what the AI adds to your monthly bill after that, and whether it requires a particular tier.
What reviewers say about Weave
Weave has a 4.6 out of 5 on Trustpilot, so most customers are happy. The recent critical reviews are about the platform and the contract, not the AI itself:
- Integration promises. A September 2026 reviewer says insurance validation and write-back didn’t work with their practice software after they were told they would.
- Phones that need Wi-Fi. Another says the phones were entirely Wi-Fi dependent, which nobody mentioned on the intro call.
- Support and contracts. Several reviewers describe slow or no responses from support, and one says they’re held to a contract for a service they aren’t happy with.
What to check before you sign
- Your practice software. Automatic booking depends on a qualified dental practice management system. Ask Weave to confirm yours by name and version, and whether booking writes back or only requests.
- The contract. Ask for the term, the cancellation notice period and what happens to your numbers if you leave.
- The AI’s price after 2026. Get the post-promotion monthly cost in writing.
- Your network. Weave’s phones run over the internet, so check your office Wi-Fi and wired network before switching.
- HIPAA. Healthcare practices should get a signed Business Associate Agreement from any vendor that handles patient calls and texts.
- Ownership changes. Weave is newly private. Ask whether pricing, contracts or the product roadmap are changing under Francisco Partners.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.
Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.
On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
