AgentMail Pricing 2026: Plans, Send Caps and Add-ons

AgentMail has three self-serve plans. Free is $0 for 3 inboxes and 3,000 emails a month, Developer is $20 a month for 10 inboxes and 10,000 emails, and Startup is $200 a month for 150 inboxes and 150,000 emails. Enterprise is a custom quote.

Extra inboxes, domains and blocks of 1,000 emails cost $2 a month each, and yearly billing takes 20% off. What the headline prices leave out: every plan has a daily send cap, the paid plans add a five-minute one, Free and Developer both stop at 2 team members, and Free sends from @agentmail.to addresses with a “Sent via AgentMail” footer.

The quick answer: AgentMail is fairly priced for a few agents sending modest volume. For a fleet, CarlyEmail is the same kind of API (real inboxes for AI agents, threads, webhooks, pods, a hosted MCP server) with far more room per dollar. $20 a month buys 25 inboxes, 10 seats and no daily send cap, against AgentMail’s 10 inboxes, 2 seats and 1,000 sends a day. That is 80 cents an inbox on both CarlyEmail paid plans, against $2 on AgentMail Developer and about $1.33 on Startup. CarlyEmail’s free plan also includes your own domain and adds no footer. AgentMail’s free plan sends more (3,000 emails a month against 1,000), and its $200 plan allows 150,000 emails against CarlyEmail’s 100,000. The plan-by-plan head-to-head is in CarlyEmail vs AgentMail.

Every AgentMail number below comes from its live pricing page, the plan data behind that page and its docs, checked October 2, 2026. Prices are in US dollars.

†Shown as a blank (“Not listed”) in AgentMail’s comparison table. The figures come from the plan data behind the page, explained in the Startup section below.

Every plan, Free included, gets the same feature list: threads, labels, attachments, drafts, scheduled send, SDKs, the MCP server, pods, webhooks, WebSockets, metrics, SMTP relay, DKIM/SPF/DMARC, a suppression list and signed webhooks. Enterprise adds white-label, EU-region and bring-your-own-cloud deployment, an SLA, OIDC/SAML SSO and dedicated IPs.

So AgentMail’s tiers differ in volume, domains, seats and compliance paperwork. Every CarlyEmail plan gets the whole API too, with tiers that differ only in volume, so the comparison comes down to the numbers.

The AgentMail free tier

AgentMail Free costs nothing and needs no card. You get:

  • 3 inboxes, 3,000 emails a month, 100 a day and 3 GB of storage.
  • No custom domains. Every inbox lives at name@agentmail.to.
  • A “Sent via AgentMail” footer appended to every message you send. AgentMail’s docs say it is not added on paid plans.
  • 2 team members and support through Discord.

The daily cap is the one you will meet first: 100 a day across a 30-day month is the same 3,000. AgentMail’s calculator only quotes add-ons on paid plans, so a fourth inbox means moving to Developer.

CarlyEmail’s free plan is also $0 with no card: 3 inboxes, 1,000 emails a month, 100 a day and 1 GB. It adds one custom domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up for you, 3 seats, 2 pods and 2 webhooks, and no plan adds a footer. AgentMail’s free tier sends three times the mail. CarlyEmail’s is the one you can demo to a customer from agent@yourcompany.com.

Developer, $20 a month

Developer is the first paid plan: 10 inboxes, 10,000 emails a month, 10 GB, 10 custom domains, email support and no footer. Billed yearly it is $192, or $16 a month.

Three limits matter more than the price:

  • 100 emails per five minutes. That is 1,200 an hour at most, so a backlog or a batch of reminders drains at that pace.
  • 1,000 emails a day. At full speed, a Developer account reaches its daily cap in under an hour. At 1,000 a day, a 30-day month tops out at 30,000 sends, and none of AgentMail’s add-ons is for the daily cap.
  • 2 team members, the same as Free. Seats are not an add-on either, so a third person (another engineer, or the support lead who approves drafts) means Startup at $200.

The CarlyEmail plan at the same price is Startup: 25 inboxes, 10,000 emails a month, 25 GB, 10 custom domains, 5 pods, 10 webhooks and 10 people. There is no daily or five-minute cap to schedule around, only the monthly 10,000.

Startup, $200 a month

Startup includes 150 inboxes, 150,000 emails a month, 15,000 a day and 1,500 per five minutes, 150 GB, 150 custom domains, 10 team members, email support and AgentMail’s SOC 2 report. Billed yearly it is $1,920, or $160 a month.

What “not listed” means on Startup

AgentMail’s comparison table leaves Startup’s monthly emails and storage blank, with “Not listed” as the screen-reader text, and the Startup card names only inboxes, domains, seats and the SOC 2 report. The plan data that renders the page gives 150,000 emails a month and 150 GB. AgentMail’s rate-limits help page lists the same 150,000, and the pricing calculator’s top email setting is 150,000.

“Not listed” does not mean unlimited. The 15,000-a-day and 1,500-per-five-minutes caps still apply.

CarlyEmail’s $200 plan, Business, has 250 inboxes, 100,000 emails a month, 250 GB, 100 custom domains, 25 pods, 50 webhooks, 50 people and no daily cap. AgentMail Startup gives you more monthly email and more domains. CarlyEmail Business gives you 100 more inboxes, five times the seats and no daily ceiling.

Enterprise

AgentMail Enterprise is a custom quote. AgentMail lists unlimited inboxes as available, bulk discounts, usage-based pricing, white-label, EU-region cloud, bring-your-own-cloud deployment, dedicated IPs, OIDC/SAML SSO, an SLA and a Slack support channel.

CarlyEmail’s Enterprise tier covers higher volume, a dedicated sending domain or your own terms. Ask at carlyemail.com.

AgentMail add-ons: $2 each

AgentMail sells three add-ons on its paid plans, each $2 a month or $19.20 a year:

  • an extra inbox
  • an extra custom domain
  • an extra 1,000 emails a month

There is no add-on for team members, the daily cap or the five-minute cap. The calculator on AgentMail’s pricing page picks the cheapest plan for what you enter, and it stops at Startup’s allowances: 150 inboxes, 150 domains and 150,000 emails.

What 10, 25, 50, 100 or 250 inboxes cost

The cheapest AgentMail setup at each size, against the CarlyEmail plan that holds it:

InboxesAgentMail, monthlyAgentMail, billed yearlyCarlyEmail
10$20 (Developer)$16/mo$20 (Startup, room for 25)
25$50 (Developer + 15 × $2)$40/mo$20 (Startup)
50$100 (Developer + 40 × $2)$80/mo$200 (Business, room for 250)
100$200 (Startup)$160/mo$200 (Business)
250$400 (Startup + 100 × $2)$320/mo$200 (Business)

At 100 inboxes, Developer plus 90 add-ons also comes to $200, so the calculator recommends Startup. The 250 row is past the calculator’s range and uses the published $2 rate.

What each price carries:

  • AgentMail at 10 to 50 inboxes is Developer: 10,000 emails a month shared by every inbox, 1,000 a day, 100 per five minutes, 2 team members. At 50 inboxes that is 200 emails per inbox per month.
  • AgentMail at 100 and 250 is Startup: 15,000 a day, 1,500 per five minutes, 10 team members.
  • CarlyEmail Startup and Business have no daily or five-minute cap, with 10 and 50 seats.

Read as ranges, monthly: from 11 to 25 inboxes CarlyEmail is cheaper, by 60% at 25. From 26 to 99, AgentMail’s add-ons undercut CarlyEmail’s $200 tier on price, with the Developer caps and two seats attached. From 100 to 150 both cost $200, and AgentMail’s yearly plan comes to $160 a month. From 151 to 250, CarlyEmail stays at $200 while AgentMail adds $2 per inbox past 150, so at 250 CarlyEmail costs half.

What extra email volume costs

Emails a monthAgentMailCarlyEmail
10,000$20 (Developer)$20 (Startup)
25,000$50 (Developer + 15 × $2)$200 (Business)
50,000$100 quoted on Developer (see below)$200 (Business)
100,000$200 (Startup)$200 (Business)
150,000$200 (Startup)Enterprise

If your agents send a lot from a few inboxes, AgentMail’s per-1,000 add-on is the cheaper way to buy volume between 10,000 and roughly 30,000 a month. Past that, Developer’s daily cap gets in the way: the calculator quotes $100 for 50,000 emails on Developer, but 1,000 a day reaches only 30,000 in a 30-day month. Plan on Startup above 30,000, or confirm a higher daily cap with AgentMail before you buy.

If all you do is send one-way mail at volume (receipts, notifications), a transactional sender is priced for that; see Resend pricing and SendGrid pricing. AgentMail and CarlyEmail are priced per inbox for mail that comes back and gets answered.

Yearly billing: 20% off

AgentMail’s yearly billing takes 20% off the plans and the add-ons: Developer is $192 a year, Startup $1,920, and each add-on $19.20. Even on yearly terms, 25 inboxes cost $480 a year on AgentMail ($40 a month) against $20 a month on CarlyEmail Startup.

CarlyEmail bills month to month, and you can change plan whenever you like. Cancelling drops you to the free plan at the end of the period and deletes nothing: every address and every message stays.

What happens when you hit a cap

AgentMail refuses a send past a cap with a 429. Its error reference files that under rate_limit_exceeded, for requests that come too fast or have hit a usage limit, and its SDKs retry 429s automatically, honoring the Retry-After header. API request rate limits are separate. AgentMail calls them generous and says higher plans get higher ones, without publishing the numbers.

On CarlyEmail, the refusal names the cap that ran out (daily_limit_reached on the free plan, monthly_limit_reached, inbox_limit_reached and so on), and the time-based caps carry a Retry-After set to the exact reset: midnight UTC for the daily one, the start of the next month for the monthly one. GET /v0/organizations returns every count beside its limit, so an agent can check before it is refused. The quota counts recipients you send to, and received mail never counts against it.

AgentMail API and MCP pricing

AgentMail does not charge separately for its API or its MCP server. Both come with every plan, Free included. The MCP server is hosted at mcp.agentmail.to/mcp and takes OAuth or an x-api-key header.

CarlyEmail works the same way. REST, TypeScript and Python SDKs, a CLI and a hosted MCP server at https://api.carlyemail.com/mcp with 33 tools are on every plan. Chat clients such as Claude and ChatGPT sign in with OAuth, and coding agents pass an API key as a bearer token. Email MCP servers compares the rest of the field.

Putting 25 agents on CarlyEmail’s $20 plan

A 25-inbox fleet costs $50 a month on AgentMail Developer, still capped at 1,000 sends a day. On CarlyEmail it fits the $20 Startup plan:

import { CarlyEmail } from "carlyemail";

const carly = new CarlyEmail(); // reads CARLYEMAIL_API_KEY

for (let i = 1; i <= 25; i++) {
  await carly.inboxes.create({
    username: `agent-${i}`,
    domain: "agents.yourcompany.com", // a verified custom domain
    client_id: `agent-${i}`, // retry-safe: same id returns the same inbox
  });
}

const org = await carly.organizations.get();
console.log(`${org.inbox_count} of ${org.inbox_limit} inboxes in use`);

If you are already on AgentMail, CarlyEmail’s API mirrors its /v0 paths, request field names and Svix-signed webhooks, so REST callers mostly change the base URL and key. The step-by-step move is in CarlyEmail vs AgentMail, and other options are in AgentMail alternatives.
