ChatGPT + Housecall Pro: No App, and the Way In
ChatGPT has no Housecall Pro app, and Housecall Pro has not built one. Your jobs, estimates and invoices sit outside every chat you have. Add Carly to ChatGPT once and Housecall Pro comes with it, in the same chat as your mail and calendar.
Where Housecall Pro sits against ChatGPT’s app list
OpenAI renamed connectors to apps in December 2025 and moved the whole directory onto the Plugins surface on 9 July 2026, so “ChatGPT plugins”, “connectors” and “apps” all land you in the same place. What that place holds is Gmail, Google Drive with Docs and Sheets, Google Calendar, Outlook mail and calendar, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Slack, GitHub, Box and Dropbox, plus consumer names like Canva and Spotify. There is no field service software on it at all, and no Housecall Pro entry anywhere in the directory.
That gap has a cost on a Tuesday morning. ChatGPT can read the email a property manager just sent about eleven units needing annual service. It cannot tell you whether that address is already a customer, when your tech was last on site, what you charged, or whether last month’s estimate was approved. The half of the job that lives in Housecall Pro is invisible to it.
Housecall Pro has not built an MCP server
ChatGPT accepts any public MCP server, so the question is whether Housecall Pro publishes one. It does not. Its public API documentation covers REST endpoints and webhooks for customers, jobs, estimates, invoices, materials and lead injection, and the word MCP does not appear on it once.
What fills the gap is community code. The most complete server carries 95 tools across customers, jobs, estimates, invoices, reporting and the price book, and its author says he built it because he runs his own service company on Housecall Pro. It is MIT licensed and runs locally against your own API key, so you install it, you update it, and it stops when your laptop sleeps. Hosted alternatives come from the general integration platforms, Pipedream and Zapier among them, each one more account holding a key to your customer list.
Add Housecall Pro to ChatGPT through Carly
- In Housecall Pro, go to My Apps → All Apps, find API Key Management, click Generate API Key, name it, and choose Full access or Read-only. Copy it, then paste it into Carly on the integrations page. Only an Admin user can generate a key, and API access comes with the MAX plan.

An app answers when you ask it something. Nothing in ChatGPT is watching your job board.
Give Claude's Cowork tasks a time and they will run. Give them something that just happened and they will not. ChatGPT goes further, but only as far as Gmail, Slack and GitHub, only on web and mobile, and never alongside a schedule on the same task. What people report going wrong with ChatGPT’s custom connectors
Two public reports are worth reading before you depend on one. A thread opened on OpenAI’s developer forum on 25 August 2026 documents a custom connector that works on its first call in a conversation, then vanishes from the @ picker, with no second request ever reaching the server. The reporter reproduced it in both the Chrome web client and the desktop app, and a related Codex issue about tools disappearing in long threads has been open since 3 June 2026.
A second thread, opened 14 September 2026, tracks a regression starting around 20 August in which long tool-using turns stop interacting with connectors after roughly 25 to 26 minutes. Multiple Plus and Pro users report the same timing, and it is not specific to one server. Neither of these is a reason to skip connectors. They are a reason not to build your dispatch process on a chat window.
FAQ
Does ChatGPT have a Housecall Pro app? No. Housecall Pro is not in ChatGPT’s app and plugin directory, and OpenAI’s own list has no field service software on it. The way in is the Carly plugin, which brings Housecall Pro with it.
