Ollie AI Is Shutting Down on November 6: What to Do
Ollie AI is shutting down. The family assistant’s last day is November 6, 2026. CEO Bill Lennon announced it on October 30: “This is a painful post to share. Today we’re announcing that we’re shutting down @heyollieai on November 6.”
The quick answer: Ollie will text you an export of your data and refund any partial or unused months. Save that export when it arrives, and set up your replacement before November 6 so school emails and reminders don’t go quiet. Carly is the best replacement. You text it the same way, it connects to your Gmail or Outlook and your calendars, and it follows your rules the same way every time.
What Ollie said in its farewell letter
Ollie’s farewell letter, signed by Lennon on behalf of the team, covers three things:
“We’ve made the difficult decision to sunset Ollie, effective Nov 6, 2026.”
“Ollie will text you an export of your data that you can then share with another personal assistant you trust.”
“If you have a subscription to Ollie or Ollie for Meals, billing will be canceled and you will receive a refund for any partial or unused months.”
Ollie’s account on X adds that you “will receive an email or text message with further information on how to export your data and refunds.” Questions go to hello@ollie.ai.

Why is Ollie shutting down?
Ollie hasn’t said. Neither the letter nor Lennon’s post gives a reason, and no acquisition has been announced. Anyone stating a cause is guessing.
The timing is the surprising part. TechCrunch reported on September 3 that Ollie had raised a $7.5 million seed round, largely from Khosla Ventures, with AI House also in. On October 15, Lennon was thanking the New York Times for featuring Ollie and its users. In his shutdown post he said he was proud of what the team built: “We built an incredible personal assistant with a small team, and learned a ton.”
What Ollie users should do before November 6
- Save the export the moment it arrives. Ollie hasn’t published the format, so copy it somewhere you control. Our Ollie export guide covers what to do with it.
- Set up your replacement now. The school email that lands on November 7 won’t wait for you to pick a new assistant. Carly takes a few minutes to set up.
- Tell the family. If your partner or sitter texts Ollie in a group chat, they need to know that thread is ending.
- Run both for a few days. Check that the new assistant catches what Ollie catches while you still have Ollie to compare against.
- Remove Ollie’s access afterwards. Ollie connected to Google and Outlook through OAuth, so remove it from your account’s connected apps once you’re done.
- Watch for your refund. The letter says it covers partial or unused months. If yours doesn’t show up, email hello@ollie.ai.
What Ollie got right
Ollie started as a meal planner and grew into a family assistant you could simply text, with no app to install. It watched your calendar and inbox, flagged school emails, sent a daily briefing, kept reminders and lists, planned meals and joined the family group chat. Its meal planning page still says “Trusted by 90,000+ families.”
That mix is why this hurts. Plenty of parents built their week around one text thread, and they need that thread to keep working.
The best Ollie replacement: Carly
Carly keeps the part of Ollie that worked, a text thread that runs your day, and makes it reliable and endlessly customizable. You tell it your rules in plain English and it follows them the same way every time.
- Text it. Carly works by SMS from any phone, on the web, and at its own email address, so you can forward or CC it anything.
- Sort the inbox. Carly’s best work is email labeling and sorting across all of your Gmail and Outlook accounts at once, so the school, the coach and the pediatrician never get lost.
- Run the calendar. It handles the hard calendar work: finding a slot across all of your calendars, moving things when practice changes, and sending booking pages to other parents.
- Do it unasked. A new email, a calendar change or a set time can start a workflow, like the 7am briefing you got from Ollie.
- Connect everything. Carly connects to thousands of apps, and it plugs into ChatGPT, Claude, Grok Bot, Meta Muse and Perplexity if you already use one of those.
Pricing is free Zapier-style workflows; AI agents from $35/month. Set up Carly before November 6, or compare every option in Ollie AI alternatives. If your family only used the meal side, see Ollie meal planner alternatives.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.
Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.
On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
