Quo Pricing 2026 (Formerly OpenPhone): Every Plan and Fee

Quo, the business phone app formerly called OpenPhone, prints its plan prices plainly. The bill is harder to predict, because AI calls, texting registration, extra numbers and telecom taxes all sit outside the per-user price.

Every number below is checked against Quo’s pricing page and help center (September 2026), with the math for a 1, 5 and 10-person team.

The quick answer: Quo costs $19, $33 or $47 per user per month on monthly billing (Starter, Business, Scale), or $15, $23 or $35 billed annually. Every workspace gets about 10 Sona AI calls a month, and more cost $25 to $199 a month in credit tiers. Budget $19.50 once plus $1.50 to $3 a month for texting registration, $5 a month per extra number, and state telecom taxes. If you want an AI receptionist that qualifies callers and books them on your real calendar instead of taking a message, book a call with the Carly team to see Carly Phone.

What each Quo plan unlocks

Starter: $19 monthly, $15 annually

The essentials. A number per user, US and Canada calling and texting, voicemail transcripts, the Quo API, Sona, the ChatGPT and Claude connection, and email ticket support. Shared numbers are capped at 10 paid users, call recording is manual, and AI call summaries and transcripts only cover calls Sona handled.

Best for: a solo operator or a small crew that mostly calls and texts back. Watch out for: phone menus, ring orders, call transfers and HubSpot or Salesforce sync all start on Business, which is where most growing teams end up.

Business: $33 monthly, $23 annually

Quo’s most popular plan. It adds AI call summaries and transcripts on every call, group calling, custom ring orders, call transfers, phone menus (IVR), analytics and reporting, automatic call recording, HubSpot and Salesforce integrations, and live chat support. Quo’s help center lists Business and Scale as HIPAA-ready, and shared numbers lose the 10-user cap.

Best for: teams of 2 to 20 sharing a main line. Watch out for: monthly billing costs $10 a user a month more than annual, $600 a year extra for a 5-person team. Want callers booked rather than summarized? See Carly Phone on a call.

Scale: $47 monthly, $35 annually

Adds AI call tags, dedicated onboarding, priority live chat and email support, and inbound phone support (weekdays, 8 AM to 5 PM Pacific). Everything else on the feature list matches Business.

Best for: larger teams that want a person on the phone when something breaks. Watch out for: the $12 a user a month over Business (annual) mostly buys support, onboarding and AI call tags, not new calling features. Sona AI agent pricing: credits, tiers and overages

Sona is Quo’s AI voice agent. It answers calls around the clock, answers questions from a knowledge base you write, takes messages, runs “jobs” you define, texts a link mid-call and transfers callers to a teammate. It’s on every plan, but it’s metered: 100 credits per call, with 1,000 credits a month (about 10 calls) included.

That allowance is per workspace, not per user. A 10-person team gets the same 10 Sona calls as a solo plumber.

Sona tierPriceCalls includedEffective cost per callOverage per call
Tier 1$010n/a$1.00
Tier 2$25/mo40$0.63$0.75
Tier 3$49/mo100$0.49$0.65
Tier 4$99/mo250$0.40$0.55
Tier 5$199/mo600$0.33$0.45

The rules in Quo’s Sona billing docs:

  • Calls under 15 seconds don’t count.
  • Overages are off by default. Out of credits, Sona stops answering and calls fall to your fallback path, usually voicemail. With overages on, it keeps going at your tier’s rate.
  • Credits expire monthly, with no rollover, even on annual plans.
  • Upgrading mid-month re-rates the whole month at the new tier.
  • Paid tiers need a paid plan billed online, so not during the trial or through Apple.

Which tier is actually cheapest, with overages switched on:

Sona calls per monthCheapest option
Up to 35Tier 1 plus $1.00 overages
36 to 72Tier 2 ($25)
73 to 176Tier 3 ($49)
177 to 431Tier 4 ($99)
432 and upTier 5 ($199)

A tier only pays off once you’re well past the calls it includes. At 30 calls a month, $20 of overages beats Tier 2’s $25.

Sona’s text-lead capture is in beta, included on every plan for now with pricing to follow, and trained separately from Sona for calls.

On appointments, Quo’s own job guide sets scheduling up as Sona collecting the caller’s details and texting a booking link. Carly Phone takes the other route: it checks your real calendars and books the right person. Book a call with the Carly team to hear it handle a live booking.

Add-on costs the plan cards don’t show

Extra phone numbers: $5 a month each

Each user comes with one number. Every number beyond your user count, local or toll-free, is $5 a month on any plan. Porting a number in costs nothing from Quo, though your old carrier may charge. Carly Phone runs on the number you already have too, so ask the Carly team about bringing yours.

Texting registration: $19.50 once, then $1.50 to $3 a month

US carriers require anyone texting from a local virtual number to register with The Campaign Registry (A2P 10DLC). Quo passes the fees through:

Registration typeOne-timeMonthlyNotes
Business with an EIN$19.50$1.50Every number in the workspace can text
Nonprofit$19.50$3.00Same business registration path
Sole proprietor (no EIN)$19.50$2.00One number cleared to text, possible daily cap
Resubmission after rejection$15Charged each time
Toll-free verificationIncludedIncludedEach toll-free number registered separately

Timing matters more than the fee. Quo says most approvals land in 24 to 48 hours, some sit pending for up to 20 days, and you can’t text US numbers while you wait. Register the day you sign up, especially if you plan on SMS appointment booking.

Automated texts: $0.01 per segment

Texts sent through the Quo API, Zapier, Make or Clay draw $0.01 per US or Canadian segment from a prepaid balance, though the same text sent from the app is included. At a zero balance, automated texts fail.

International calls and texts

The US and Canada are included. Everything else is billed per minute or per message from prepaid credits. Rates vary by carrier within each country: on Quo’s rate table, Australia runs $0.05 to $0.33 a minute and $0.11 a text, India $0.07 to $0.09 a minute and $0.11 a text, and Germany $0.03 to $0.48 a minute.

Telecom taxes and regulatory fees

Quo’s prices exclude taxes. It collects telecom taxes and surcharges for billing addresses in 16 states, including California, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington. Expect some mix of 911 surcharges, state and federal Universal Service Fund fees (the federal rate changes quarterly), local utility taxes and a relay service fee. Rates vary by jurisdiction, so your first invoice is the only reliable number.

What Quo actually costs: 1, 5 and 10-person teams

Every example below is before telecom taxes, and each business registers for texting with an EIN.

TeamPlanPer month, annual billingPer month, monthly billing
Josh, soloStarter$36.50$40.50
Emily, 5 peopleBusiness$175.50$225.50
Michael, 10 peopleBusiness$345.50$445.50
Michael, 10 peopleScale$465.50$585.50

Josh, solo contractor on Starter

Josh runs a one-man remodeling business and wants Sona on after-hours calls, about 30 a month.

  • Starter, annual: $15 a month ($180 upfront)
  • Texting registration: $1.50 a month, plus $19.50 once
  • Sona: Tier 1 with overages on, 20 calls over at $1.00 = $20 a month
  • Total: $36.50 a month, $457.50 in year one. On monthly billing, $40.50 a month.

Emily’s 5-person property management office on Business

Five staff with direct numbers, plus a main line and a maintenance line. Sona covers overflow and after-hours, about 90 calls a month.

  • Business, annual: 5 × $23 = $115 a month ($1,380 upfront)
  • Extra numbers: 2 × $5 = $10 a month
  • Texting registration: $1.50 a month, plus $19.50 once
  • Sona: Tier 3 = $49 a month
  • Total: $175.50 a month, $2,125.50 in year one. On monthly billing, $225.50 a month.

Her real cost per seat is $35.10, about 53% above the $23 sticker price.

Michael’s 10-person home services company: Business or Scale

Ten staff, three location lines, and Sona handling about 220 calls a month. Both plans carry the same extras: $15 for numbers, $1.50 for registration and $99 for Sona Tier 4, so $115.50 a month on top of seats.

  • Business: $230 in seats, $345.50 all in on annual billing ($4,165.50 in year one)
  • Scale: $350 in seats, $465.50 all in on annual billing ($5,605.50 in year one)

If most of those 220 calls are prospects asking for an appointment, the real question is what the AI does with them. Get a Carly Phone walkthrough with his numbers in mind.

Trial, plan changes and cancellation terms

  • 7-day trial with every feature unlocked, then features drop to your plan’s level. A credit card is required, and international calling is off.
  • Upgrades apply immediately, prorated. Downgrades wait for renewal.
  • No refunds on payments already made. Cancel from settings in a few clicks and service runs to the end of the billing period.
  • Numbers after canceling: Quo’s help center says 30 days, its pricing page FAQ says 60. Port out before you cancel rather than rely on either.

The complaints that come up most in Quo reviews: slow ticket-based support during outages or billing problems, Sona costs climbing once it becomes the main answering layer, and texting blocked while registration is pending. Where Carly fits

Quo is a solid, well-priced phone app for teams that answer most calls themselves. Carly Phone is built for the calls nobody picks up: a business line run by Carly, the AI assistant, and set up for you by the Carly team.

  • An AI receptionist that books. When nobody answers or it’s after hours, Carly answers questions, qualifies the caller against your criteria, checks your real calendars and books the right person. Afterwards it can text the caller a booking page or application link.
  • It knows who’s calling. Carly already sees your email and CRM history, so a returning client gets treated like one.
  • Calls and texts on one number, either a new local number or the one you already have.
  • Routing built around how you work: ring the team at once or in order, business-hours and after-hours rules, call flows and phone menus.
  • A shared SMS inbox where Carly answers texts and anyone on the team can take a conversation over, with photos, attachments and opt-out handling.
  • Voicemail transcripts, call summaries and outcomes in one call inbox with resolve and reopen follow-up.
  • CRM logging to Carly’s built-in CRM and to HubSpot, Salesforce or Dynamics 365.
  • Everything else Carly does: email, calendar, scheduling and follow-ups, and it connects to thousands of apps.

Shared numbers, routing, phone menus, voicemail transcription, call summaries, texting, AI answering, CRM sync: the Carly team sets all of it up for clients. The difference is what an answered call turns into, a meeting on a real calendar logged against the caller’s history.

Carly Phone is an add-on for teams, and pricing is set on a short call. The Carly team sets it up with you, and it’s live after one call. Book a call with the Carly team to price it against your Quo bill.

Stay on Quo if your team places most calls and texts itself and Sona covers a few dozen overflow calls a month. Look at Carly Phone if missed calls are lost bookings, your team lives in HubSpot, Salesforce or Dynamics 365, or you want one assistant across phone, email and calendar.
