Claude + Sage Intacct: What the Integration Can (and Can't) Do in 2026
Not in Anthropic’s directory — but Sage Intacct is the rare finance tool that actually ships its own connection for Claude. Intacct isn’t a connector in Anthropic’s directory, and there’s no Anthropic-built Sage integration. What changed the picture: at Sage Future in November 2025, Sage launched AI Developer Solutions and shipped an official Sage Intacct MCP server — a small connector, built and maintained by Sage, that lets Claude reach Intacct data. That’s a genuine vendor-built connection. But it’s new, aimed at partners building certified agents, and getting real data still means clearing Intacct’s API gates. There’s also a third-party read-only option (CData) for Claude Desktop.
Here’s what’s actually available, the gates, the limits, and what to use if you want Intacct work to happen without you.
The one finance tool with a vendor-built connection
Most accounting and close software has nothing to connect to Claude — you’d have to build it. Sage Intacct is the exception. The Intacct AI Gateway exists specifically so outside AI assistants can retrieve information, coordinate tasks, and generate insights against Intacct data.
Two honest caveats:
- It’s early and partner-shaped. The Gateway launched in November 2025 and the first phase is Intacct-only. It’s built around partners creating and certifying agents, not a one-click “add Sage to your personal Claude” button in the directory.
- It still rides Intacct’s access model. The connection is a layer over the Sage Intacct API. You register an app in the Sage Developer Portal for API credentials, and Web Services access has to be turned on for your company — which usually means a conversation with your account manager and can carry extra cost.
So the standout fact — an official, vendor-built connection — is real. Just don’t expect it to be as frictionless as adding Gmail.
How you’d actually connect Claude to Sage Intacct today
Three realistic paths, in rough order of officialness:
- Sage’s official Intacct connector — the right long-term path, especially if you’re a partner or want to align with Sage Copilot certification. Needs a Developer Portal app and Web Services turned on.
- CData’s read-only connector — a local option that lets you ask questions about the numbers in Claude Desktop. Read-only; full read/write goes through CData’s paid tier. Still needs your Intacct API access.
- Your own connector — have someone technical point a connection at the API using your app credentials.
Any of these adds Intacct as a custom connection. Remote connections on claude.ai require a paid Claude plan; local ones run through Claude Desktop or Claude Code. Not to be confused with Intacct’s own in-product AI (Sage Copilot, AP automation) — those are Sage features, not connections to Claude.
The limit that matters: Intacct’s events have nothing to fire into
Even with the official connection wired up, one thing sets the shape of what you get.
Scheduled work is no longer the dividing line — ChatGPT and Claude both run tasks on a timer without anyone watching. The line that still holds is event triggers. Nothing kicks off because something happened in one of your apps; it kicks off because the clock said so, which means anything time-sensitive waits for the next run.
For a finance team that means:
- It never notices anything. Intacct fires plenty of events — a bill posts, a payment clears, a period closes — but there’s nothing on the Claude side catching “a new AP bill over $10k landed” and acting on it.
- A timer is the best you get. A scheduled task will genuinely pull an AR aging every morning without you. But a threshold bill that posts at 2pm is flagged tomorrow, and “chase this the moment approval stalls” has no signal to hang on.
And email? Claude’s built-in email drafts in both Gmail and Outlook but doesn’t send — you still hit send yourself. You could pay a developer to build sending in too, but it’s one more thing to maintain, and no Intacct posting would fire it.
So Claude is good for “summarize this month’s variances by department” and not built for “flag every uncategorized transaction and email the owner as it happens.”
If you want Sage Intacct work to happen on its own: Carly
The moment you want something to happen around Intacct the instant it happens — the controller emailed when a bill over threshold posts, a missing approval chased, an exception caught on the day — you’ve crossed past what a timer can do for you.
That’s where Carly fits. Carly is an AI executive assistant built to act on triggers. Intacct connects to Carly through the API with your credentials — turn on Web Services, then paste them on carlyassistant.com/integrations — and Carly works the events for you:
- When a bill posts over your threshold → Carly reads it, drafts the flag to the controller, and sends it.
- When a month-end close task comes due → Carly nudges the owner and chases the ones already overdue.
- When an approval is waiting → Carly pings the approver and follows up until it clears.
- Every Monday → the cash position and any budget variances roll up into one summary in your inbox.
Carly also drafts and sends email across Gmail and Outlook, updates tasks and records, and connects to 200+ tools natively (see integrations) or any app via your own API key — describe the workflow in plain English and Carly builds it with you. AI agents start at $35/month, and any step in a workflow that doesn’t use AI runs free and unlimited.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Claude work with Sage Intacct?
Not through Anthropic’s directory — there’s no first-party Anthropic connector. But Sage shipped an official Intacct connector in November 2025 built on its API, and there’s a third-party read-only CData option for Claude Desktop. Both need Intacct API access (an app registration plus Web Services turned on), and like everything Claude, neither carries an event trigger — a posting in Intacct can’t start anything.
Is the Sage Intacct connector official?
Yes. It’s part of Sage’s AI Developer Solutions / AI Gateway, launched November 2025, built and maintained by Sage on top of the Intacct API — but it’s early, oriented toward partners building certified agents, and not a one-click directory connector.
Do I need to pay extra for API access?
Often, yes. You register an app in the Sage Developer Portal, but Web Services access has to be turned on for your company account, which usually routes through your account manager and can carry additional cost.
What if I want Sage Intacct to act on its own — flag bills, chase approvals, send summaries?
That’s outside what Claude does; it answers when asked or when a timer says so, never on a posting. Carly fires on Intacct events and schedules 24/7 in the cloud and can email owners, chase approvals, update records, and send close summaries. AI agents start at $35/month.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.
Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.
On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
