Create Event Invitations With ChatGPT
ChatGPT will happily write you invitation wording. What it will not do on its own is produce an invitation that looks like something, get it to ninety people, and tell you who replied.
Connect CarlyEvents and it does all three, because CarlyEvents exposes the whole product over MCP: designing invitations, importing guests, sending mail, tracking replies and opens, and running check-in at the door.
1. Get a key
Create a free account at carlyevents.com and copy your key.
You can also let ChatGPT do this part. Signup and verification are themselves tools, so you can ask it to sign you up with your email address and then hand it the code that arrives.
2. Add the server in Plugins
In ChatGPT, open Plugins and add the MCP server:
https://carlyevents.com/mcpPass your key as an Authorization: Bearer evk_... header. That is the whole connection step, and you do it once.
3. Ask for the event
Paste this:
Create an invitation for our launch party on October 9 at 6pm at the Fitzroy studio. Confident and a bit fun, not corporate. Add a question asking whether people are bringing a guest. Do not send anything yet, just give me the preview link.
You get a real invitation, chosen from 48 occasions with 11 designs each, with the colors and words editable afterwards. If you would rather it look like nothing else, you can hand it your own HTML.
4. Hand it the guest list
Attach your spreadsheet and ask:
Import these guests. Group the couples into households so they count as one invitation, and tag the press list separately so I can invite them a week later.
Households stop a couple being counted twice. Tags let you send to part of the list without rebuilding it.
5. Look at it, then send
Creating an event returns a one-time link that signs you into your own account and opens the invitation exactly as it will go out, with one button to send. Design changes, list imports, and question edits all run freely, but mail is a separate and explicit action. Adding a hundred guests emails nobody.
So ChatGPT can build the entire event while you are still deciding, and no guest hears anything until you have looked at it and pressed the button.
What to ask for afterwards
Following up is the job nobody does.
Who has not replied yet?
Send a reminder to everyone who has not answered, but not to the press list.
How many are we catering for, counting plus-ones?
Guests who answer by simply replying to the invitation in plain words are counted the same as guests who click, so “wouldn’t miss it, bringing Michael” lands in the count without you doing anything.
