How to Add Open to Work on LinkedIn (2026)
Open to Work tells recruiters you’re available — either quietly (visible only to recruiters using LinkedIn Recruiter) or publicly with the green #OpenToWork frame around your photo. Here’s how to switch it on and control exactly who sees it.
1. Turn On Open to Work (Desktop)
- Go to your profile.
- Under your headline, click the Open to button.
- Choose Finding a new job.
- Fill in the card: Job titles, Location types (remote, on-site, hybrid), Locations, Start date, and Job types (full-time, contract, etc.).
- Under Choose who sees you’re open, pick a visibility option (below).
- Click Add to profile / Save.
2. Recruiters Only vs. All LinkedIn Members
This choice is the whole game:
- All LinkedIn members — adds the green #OpenToWork photo frame visible to everyone. Maximum reach, but anyone (including your current employer) can see it.
- Recruiters only — shows your status only to recruiters using LinkedIn Recruiter, with no public frame. LinkedIn says it tries to hide the signal from recruiters at your own company, but this isn’t guaranteed, so treat it as a best effort.
If you’re employed and job-searching discreetly, choose Recruiters only.
3. Add Open to Work on Mobile
- Tap your photo > View Profile.
- Tap the Open to button under your name.
- Tap Finding a new job, fill in roles and preferences.
- Choose your visibility, then tap Save.
4. Edit or Remove Open to Work
- On your profile, find the Open to work card (or the green frame).
- Click the pencil icon to update roles, locations, or visibility.
- To turn it off, open the same card and click Delete from profile — the frame and signal both disappear.
5. Troubleshooting
Will my current employer see the green frame?
If you chose All LinkedIn members, yes — the frame is public. Switch to Recruiters only to keep it hidden from public view.
Does “Recruiters only” truly hide it from my company’s recruiters?
LinkedIn excludes recruiters it identifies at your company on a best-effort basis. It can’t catch every account, so don’t rely on it for full secrecy.
The #OpenToWork frame isn’t showing on my photo
You only get the frame with the All LinkedIn members option. Recruiters-only intentionally has no visible badge. Refresh your profile after saving.
How do I change which job titles I’m open to?
Click the pencil on the Open to work card and edit the Job titles field. Add several relevant titles to widen recruiter matches.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.
Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.
On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
