Raindrop AI: Agent Monitoring, Pricing and Alternatives
Raindrop AI is a monitoring platform for agents in production. It watches what your agent actually does with real users and flags failures that normal software monitoring misses, like an agent saying it refunded $120 when it refunded $240. This Raindrop is separate from Raindrop.io, the bookmark manager.
The quick answer: Raindrop suits teams with an agent live in front of users who need to know when it quietly goes wrong. Its free plan covers basic tracing, and real issue detection starts at $299 a month plus per-event charges, so costs need a close look at high volume.

Why agents need their own monitoring
A traditional service either returns an error or it doesn’t. An agent can finish a run with no error at all and still be wrong: it might invent a policy, ignore a tool result, or misreport what it did. Raindrop calls these silent failures.
Its example is a refund agent whose response times out, retries and refunds a customer twice, then tells the customer it refunded once. Nothing in a normal error log would flag that.
Raindrop looks for semantic problems, including made-up answers, tool misuse and changes in behavior after a model update.
What Raindrop includes
- Tracing: every message, tool call and decision in a run.
- Issue detection: groups recurring failures across runs into one issue.
- Triage agent: investigates failures in Slack, on the web or through MCP.
- Signals and experiments: tracks behavior and measures whether a change helps.
- Workshop: inspect, replay and debug agents locally.
- Simulations: tests changes against real production traffic, shown on your pull request. This is in early access.
Raindrop says it processes billions of traces a month and counts Fortune 100 companies as customers. Those are its own figures.
Raindrop pricing
| Plan | Price | What’s included |
|---|---|---|
| Hobby | $0/month | 1,000 events, tracing and search, Slack notifications, MCP and Query SDK |
| Pro | $299/month plus usage | Real-time issue detection, triage agent, experiments, unlimited retention. 14-day trial |
| Enterprise | Custom | Pricing tailored to your team |
One event is a user message and agent response, including tool calls and sub-agents, or one background agent run.
At the listed rates, 500,000 events would add about $1,500 a month to the $299 base. For a busy consumer agent, that can become a real line item, so estimate your event volume before you commit. Raindrop for Good is a free program for teams building agents that help people.
What to weigh before adopting Raindrop
- Noise. Any tool judging meaning will sometimes flag the wrong thing. During your trial, count how many flagged issues were real, and how many real problems it missed.
- Private data. You are sending user conversations to another vendor. PII redaction is listed as a Pro add-on, so confirm that and the data handling before production use.
- Early features. Simulations is in early access. Don’t plan your release process around it until you have tried it.
- Fit. If your agent is internal or low volume, a free tool may cover what you need.
How much Raindrop has raised
Axios reported a $35 million Series A led by CRV in September 2026. It followed a $15 million seed led by Lightspeed, for $50 million in total.
How Raindrop compares with other tools
Agent monitoring is a crowded field. LangSmith is the natural choice for teams already using LangChain. Langfuse is popular with teams that want an open-source option they can host themselves. Braintrust leans toward evaluations and testing during development, and Arize Phoenix comes from a machine-learning monitoring background.
Raindrop’s case is that it focuses on finding unknown problems in production, rather than only testing cases you wrote down in advance. neatlogs is a newer rival with a similar focus on going from failure to fix, and it can sit on top of traces from those other platforms.
If you are building an agent and want the basics first, our guide to building an AI support agent covers the setup that monitoring depends on.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.
Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.
On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
