How to Get Claude to Text You About Important Emails

1:02 · October 30, 2026

Claude can text you. Add the Carly connector and one plain sentence sets it up. Carly checks for new mail about every 5 minutes across all your inboxes and texts you only when something needs you soon: a real person waiting, a deadline, money at risk, a live problem. Newsletters, receipts, notifications and mass sends stay quiet, and each text says who the email is from and what they need. Two more prompts are worth setting up at the same time: an hourly summary of the important emails you missed, and draft replies to the emails that matter, written in your voice and saved to Drafts so nothing goes out until you send it. It works with Outlook and Gmail, as many accounts as you want. To change anything, go back to Claude and give it feedback.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Connect Carly in Claude

Press the plus sign, then Connectors, then Manage connectors, and search for Carly. Once it's connected, Claude can read all your inboxes and text you.

  2. 02

    Turn on text alerts

Tell Claude: "Text me if I get an email in my email accounts that looks important." Texts go to the phone number on your Carly account.

  3. 03

    Get an hourly summary

Tell Claude: "Email me every hour about what emails I received that look important." You get one email, most urgent first, with one line per email. If nothing important came in, it says so.

  4. 04

    Have Claude draft your replies

Ask Claude to draft replies to the emails that seem important. They're written in your voice and saved to Drafts. Newsletters, SaaS alerts and automated mail are skipped, and you review and send each one yourself.

  5. 05

    Change it whenever you want

Go back to Claude and give it feedback. That's all it takes to tweak any of these.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.

Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.

On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
