Calendly Review 2026: Pros, Cons, Pricing and Callie
Calendly is the booking link. You publish your availability, send a URL, and the other person picks a slot. It invented the category in 2013 and it is still the default most people reach for.
The short verdict: Calendly is worth it for anyone who takes a steady stream of inbound bookings (coaches, consultants, recruiters, sales teams) and needs reminders, routing, or payments attached. The catch: the useful features start at $10 per seat, the new AI tier costs $18, and the whole model asks the other person to do the scheduling work, which a vocal share of recipients resent. If most of your meetings get arranged over email rather than through a link, Carly handles that thread for you.

What Calendly actually does in 2026
Event types and booking links. The core product. Each event type is a meeting template (length, location, questions, buffers) with its own link. Free gets one; Standard and up remove the cap and allow up to six connected calendars for conflict checking, according to Calendly’s plan comparison on Sep 29, 2026.
Team scheduling. Group and collective event types start on Standard. Round-robin distribution, routing forms that screen leads and send them to the right rep, and the Salesforce integration start on Teams.
Workflows and reminders. Automated reminders, follow-up emails, and a cancellation policy start on Standard. Webhooks, Zapier, HubSpot and Mailchimp connections are Standard too.
Meeting polls. Available on every plan, including Free, for finding a time with a group.
Payments and contacts. Stripe and PayPal at booking, payment links, prepaid packages, and invoices (Standard and up). Contact profiles with meeting history are on every plan.
Notetaker. Joins Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams calls, including ones not booked through Calendly, and returns a recording, transcript and recap with a drafted follow-up email, per Calendly’s August 19, 2026 launch announcement.
Callie (beta). An AI assistant you add to an email thread as callie@calendly.com. According to Calendly’s Callie scheduling guide, it replies within one minute with up to 3 days of availability and up to 5 slots per day, then books the time the invitee picks. There is also an “Ask Callie” chat inside Calendly for meeting prep and recall. Callie and Notetaker are sold only on the Plus plans and are English-only. Our Callie deep dive and Notetaker guide cover both in detail.
Company news worth knowing
- The AI pivot. Awotona’s post introducing “the new Calendly” (Aug 19, 2026) repositions the company around “all of the work around meetings” and says it serves over 50 million users.
- Layoffs. Calendly cut about 70 people, roughly 13% of staff, in December 2024, across engineering, customer experience, marketing and billing, after a 60-person cut in July 2023, per Business Insider.
- Funding and deals. It raised $350 million at a $3 billion valuation in January 2021 and acquired the recruiting-scheduling startup Prelude in 2022. We found no acquisition in 2025 or 2026.
- Apple Calendar. Calendly stopped accepting new iCloud Calendar connections on August 20, 2024. Existing connections still work.
What users say about Calendly
Ratings are strong: 4.8 stars from 55,164 App Store ratings and 4.0 from 686 Trustpilot reviews as of Sep 29, 2026. The complaints cluster tightly.
Where it earns its keep
A Trustpilot reviewer in September 2026 on the free plan: “Love the free version; does everything I need it to and is intuitive and easy/fun to use. Was resistant at first to a booking calendar but now I don’t know how/why I didn’t set one up sooner!!”
A professor and business owner on the App Store in March 2026: “It allows people to easily find a time that works without the endless back and forth emails that used to consume so much of my day.”
A coach on the App Store in June 2026: “I appreciate the ability to automate follow up messaging and reminders… Calendly makes it easy for my clients to pay for their meetings via the PayPal integration.”
Even a skeptic concedes the lock-in. An r/LocalWebsites poster in September 2026 keeps trying to move a physio clinic off it: “they are staying put because the reminder emails cut no shows and nobody wants to touch a booking flow that works.”
Our read: for self-serve inbound booking with reminders, Calendly does exactly what it promises.
Where people get stuck
The mobile app and recent redesign draw the sharpest reviews. One App Store user of about five years, writing in August 2026: “Every update they do has made the ap more flakey, increased calendar sync issues, make the layout harder to use.”
The AI push isn’t universally welcome. Another App Store reviewer in September 2026: “I do not want a price increase for all these new AI features I did not ask for or want. Please keep Calendly as a basic option”
Support is mixed. Most recent Trustpilot reviews praise named agents, but one September 2026 reviewer wrote: “some clients couldn’t book meetings because of an error, i asked for assistance, its been more than a month and they cant do anything about it and wont solve the problem, im loosing clients.”
Our read: the scheduling engine is solid; the app, the redesign and the AI upsell are where goodwill is leaking.
The “is a Calendly link rude?” debate
This is the complaint no feature fixes. A founder on r/sales in February 2026: “whenever I share a Calendly link over email, the conversation tends to die down… it seems they feel I am making them do the work of finding a time slot. When I manually offer slots in the email, the response gets better.”
A Hacker News commenter in January 2026 on prospecting outreach: “if anyone asks me to book a slot myself, it’s an instant no. I feel like you can’t be bothered to actually engage with me, that you are not prepared to do this tiny bit of work.”
The other side is just as firm. Another HN commenter: “When you send me a link you are saying that you value my time more than your own. Which is ridiculously courteous.”
Our read: links land well when the other person asked to meet you, and badly in cold outreach or with senior contacts. Callie is Calendly’s own admission of this.
Calendly pricing (verified Sep 29, 2026)
| Plan | Billed yearly (per seat/mo) | Billed monthly (per seat/mo) | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 1 event type, 1 calendar, meeting polls |
| Standard | $10 | $12 | Any number of event types, 6 calendars, reminders, payments, HubSpot/Zapier |
| Standard Plus | $18 | $24 | Standard + Notetaker + Callie |
| Teams | $16 | $20 | Round-robin, routing forms, Salesforce, admin tools |
| Teams Plus | $24 | $32 | Teams + Notetaker + Callie |

Invitees never need a seat; hosts do. SSO is a paid add-on on Teams. Phone support is Enterprise-only.
Solo user: Standard is $120 a year billed annually. Adding Callie and Notetaker (Standard Plus) makes it $216.
Five-person sales team: Teams is $960 a year billed annually, or $1,200 paying monthly. Teams Plus is $1,440 a year.
The full tier breakdown is in Calendly pricing, and what Free leaves out is in Calendly free plan limits.
Problems and limits
- Free is one meeting type. The r/LocalWebsites physio example is typical: a 30-minute, 45-minute and initial assessment need three event types, which means a paid seat.
- Callie is narrow. Calendly’s guide says shared mailboxes won’t work with Callie, you must send from your Calendly login address, and scheduling links remain the tool for “multiple hosts, group scheduling, or team coordination.”
- Callie stays in email. Calendly’s platform guide for Callie says if a prospect texts a scheduling request, “ask them to continue via email,” and after Callie books a meeting you add it to your CRM “using your standard workflow.”
- AI is bundled, not à la carte. Notetaker and Callie only come together, at $8 per seat above the base plan.
Calendly vs Carly
| Calendly | Carly | |
|---|---|---|
| Core model | Invitee picks a slot from your link | CC Carly on the thread; it proposes times, sends the invite, handles reschedules |
| Booking links | Yes, the core product | Booking pages |
| Group scheduling | Meeting polls; Callie is built for one-on-one | Group availability polls |
| Email inbox | Callie on your login address only | Gmail and Outlook, several accounts at once |
| Reach it by | Email (Callie), app | Email, text message, web |
| Beyond scheduling | Notetaker, payments, contacts | Inbox triage and drafting, workflows, Email Agents |
| Apps | CRM, ATS, video, payment integrations | Thousands of apps, including HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack and Asana |
| Price | $10–$24 per seat/month billed yearly; AI from $18 | Free Zapier-style workflows; AI agents from $35/month |
Calendly asks the other person to do the work. Carly does it for you in the thread you’re already in: loop it in, and it reads the conversation, checks your calendars, offers times, sends the invite, and chases the reschedule. It works from any of your connected Gmail or Outlook accounts, can be reached by text, and the same assistant can log the meeting in HubSpot or trigger a follow-up workflow afterward. For call notes it works alongside recorders like Fathom, Fireflies and Granola.
A plain Calendly link is still the right tool for high-volume inbound booking from a website, where nobody expects a personal reply. Carly offers booking pages for that case too, so you don’t need two products. SSO and custom team rollouts are available too: book a call with the Carly team.
Who should use Calendly, and who should look elsewhere
Use Calendly if:
- Clients book you from a website or email signature and you want reminders and payments attached
- You run a sales or recruiting team that needs round-robin and lead routing
- You’re fine with one meeting type and just need a free link
Look elsewhere if:
- Your scheduling happens in email threads with people who won’t click a link
- You work across several inboxes or a shared mailbox
- You’re on Apple Calendar and haven’t connected it before
- You want scheduling plus inbox and follow-up help from one assistant

FAQ
Is Calendly worth it? For inbound booking with reminders, yes: Standard at $10 per seat per month billed yearly pays for itself if it cuts no-shows. It’s harder to justify if most meetings get arranged in email threads, where an assistant like Carly negotiates the time for you.
How much does Calendly cost in 2026? As of Sep 29, 2026: Free, Standard $10 ($12 monthly), Standard Plus $18 ($24), Teams $16 ($20), Teams Plus $24 ($32) per seat per month, and Enterprise from $15,000 a year with a 50-seat minimum. See Calendly pricing.
Is Calendly free? Yes, forever, with one event type and one connected calendar. Paid features come with a 14-day trial, after which the account drops back to Free.
Is Calendly safe? Calendly lists SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001 and PCI compliance on its security page and says it does not use customer data to train AI models.
Does Calendly work with Outlook and Apple Calendar? Outlook, Office 365 and Exchange calendars, yes. New iCloud Calendar connections have been blocked since August 2024. Carly works with Gmail and Outlook inboxes and calendars, several accounts at once.
Is sending a Calendly link rude? It depends on who asked for the meeting. Recipients who requested time usually like it; cold prospects and senior contacts often read it as offloading work. CC Carly instead and the other person just replies to an email.

See what people say
"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.
Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.
On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
