Claude + DoorLoop: What the Integration Can (and Can't) Do in 2026

No — there’s no official Claude DoorLoop connector, and DoorLoop hasn’t built one. DoorLoop isn’t in Anthropic’s connectors directory, and there’s no community-built connector for it either. What DoorLoop does have is a genuinely capable API — full two-way read and write — plus a DoorLoop connector on Zapier. So the realistic path is through Zapier, not a first-party integration. And even wired up, anything connected to Claude only works inside a conversation you start — nothing watches your portfolio or acts while you’re away.

Here’s what’s actually available, the gate, the limits, and what to use if you want DoorLoop work that runs on its own.

The API is open — but behind the Premium plan

DoorLoop’s API is a paste-your-key affair once you qualify. Per DoorLoop’s help center, you create a developer account, open the API access section, and click Create New Key — no multi-week approval, no partner agreement. The API reference covers nearly every feature in the product with both read and write access.

The catch is packaging: API access is a Premium-plan feature, not something on the Starter tier. So “connect Claude to DoorLoop” is real and self-serve, but only if your account is on the plan that unlocks a key. There’s an old third-party code library floating around too, but it’s just a developer helper, not a ready-made Claude connector.

How you’d actually connect Claude to DoorLoop today

No first-party connector exists, so you have two unofficial routes:

  1. Through ZapierZapier’s DoorLoop connector lets you pick specific DoorLoop actions and expose them to Claude as a custom connector. You choose the actions, Zapier handles the sign-in, and each action consumes tasks from your Zapier plan.
  2. Your own build — generate a DoorLoop API key (Premium) and have someone technical build a small connector against the API for full read/write control.

Either way it lands as a custom connector (an MCP server — the standard way outside apps plug into Claude). The remote kind on claude.ai requires a paid Claude plan; the local kind runs through the Claude desktop app or Claude Code. That’s the whole menu — there’s no official DoorLoop button to click.

One thing not to confuse with a Claude integration: DoorLoop shipped its own in-product AI Assistant in October 2025 (now available to all customers), with a Tenant Concierge that resolves over half of tenant requests, plus message drafting and invoice categorization. That’s DoorLoop’s own AI — it isn’t a Claude connector and it doesn’t connect to your Claude account.

The limits that actually matter

Even fully wired, the shape is “an assistant you operate,” not “an agent that runs.” Three limits define it:

  • No triggers, no monitoring. DoorLoop’s API can return a new lease or an overdue balance, but Claude only runs inside a conversation you start. Nothing catches a new work order and acts on it. No “when rent posts late, text the tenant and flag the owner.”
  • Conversation-only. Claude pulls a rent roll or looks up a unit when you ask; it doesn’t sit on your account watching move-outs and following up. Close the chat and nothing continues.
  • Timer-bound, not event-driven. The closest thing to autonomy is Claude’s scheduled tasks, which fire on a fixed clock, not when rent posts late or a work order opens. That’s not an always-on, event-driven property manager.

So Claude is good for “summarize this month’s delinquencies” and not built for “chase every late payment automatically.”

If you want DoorLoop work that runs on its own: Carly

The moment you want something to happen around DoorLoop without you in the chat — email a tenant the instant a payment fails, notify an owner when a maintenance request comes in, send a weekly delinquency summary — you’ve crossed past what Claude is for.

That’s where Carly fits. Carly is an AI executive assistant built to act on triggers, and it runs DoorLoop’s API and events for you, 24/7 in the cloud:

  • When rent posts late, Carly emails the tenant, flags the owner, and logs the follow-up.
  • When a maintenance ticket opens, Carly drafts the vendor assignment and emails the owner on that property.
  • When a lease is signed, Carly sends the welcome packet and updates your records.
  • Every Monday, the week’s delinquencies roll up into one owner-ready summary.
  • Actually sends and updates — drafts and sends email across Gmail and Outlook with attachments, manages tasks, and syncs your CRM.
  • No-code setup. Describe the workflow in plain English; Carly interviews you and builds it with you.

AI agents start at $35/month, and steps in a workflow that don’t use AI run free and unlimited. Carly connects to 200+ tools across 40+ categories — see integrations. Carly natively integrates with DoorLoop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Claude work with DoorLoop?

Not officially. There’s no Claude DoorLoop connector and DoorLoop hasn’t built one. You can connect them through the Zapier DoorLoop connector or a custom build against DoorLoop’s API — but that’s unofficial, the API is a Premium-plan feature, and like anything wired to Claude it only works inside a conversation you start.

Is DoorLoop’s AI Assistant the same as connecting Claude?

No. DoorLoop’s AI Assistant is its own in-product feature for tenant messaging and bookkeeping. It’s not a Claude connector and it doesn’t connect to your Claude account.

Do I need a paid plan to connect Claude to DoorLoop?

Effectively yes on both sides — DoorLoop’s API key requires the Premium plan, and remote custom connectors on claude.ai require a paid Claude plan (the local kind, via the Claude desktop app or Code, is the free workaround).

What if I want DoorLoop to act on its own — chase late rent, notify owners?

That’s outside what Claude does; it responds inside a chat and doesn’t act on events. Carly fires on DoorLoop events and schedules 24/7 in the cloud and can email tenants and owners, update records, and send summaries. AI agents start at $35/month.

See what people say

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.

Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.

On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
