Claude + Hostaway: What the Integration Can (and Can't) Do in 2026

No — there’s no official Claude Hostaway connector and Hostaway hasn’t built one. Hostaway isn’t in Anthropic’s connectors directory, and there’s no community-built connection for it either as of this writing. The good news, compared with most vacation-rental tools: Hostaway ships a genuinely open, self-serve API. Its API reaches listings, reservations, calendars, messaging, finance, and tasks, and you grab your own key under Settings → Integrations → API — no partner review, no waitlist. That makes a do-it-yourself connection realistic. But even connected, Claude only does anything while you’re in the chat asking — it can’t watch your inbox or your calendar and act on its own.

Here’s the plain-English version: what’s possible today, where it stops, and what to use if you want Hostaway work to actually happen without you.

The API is open — the connector isn’t built

Most property-management tools gate their API behind a partner application. Hostaway doesn’t. Any account holder can generate their own Account ID and Secret API Key in Settings → Integrations → API — and the login it issues stays valid for months. No approval queue, no per-use metering surfaced at signup.

What’s missing is anything on the Claude side. There’s no Hostaway entry in Anthropic’s directory, no Hostaway-built connection, and no notable community one. So the API is ready — the bridge to Claude is the part you (or a middleman tool) have to build.

How you’d actually connect Claude to Hostaway today

Two realistic paths, both unofficial. Both rely on a small connector that bridges Hostaway and Claude (the industry term for this kind of bridge is an “MCP server” — a mini-program that lets Claude reach an outside tool):

  1. Your own build against the API. Because the API is self-serve, you can start right away: get your key and have someone technical wrap the parts you care about (reservations, calendar, messaging) in a connector. On a paid Claude plan it can run in the cloud; otherwise it runs on your own computer through the Claude desktop app.
  2. A middleman like Zapier. Hostaway has a Zapier app, and Zapier’s connection exposes those actions to Claude without anyone writing code — update host notes, manage reservations, handle custom fields from a Claude conversation. It’s the fastest route, though every action still runs when you prompt it or when a schedule does — never when a booking lands.

Either way you end up with Hostaway actions Claude can run when you ask it to, in a chat.

Hostaway AI is not a Claude integration

Worth separating: Hostaway ships its own AI. Hostaway AI Guest Messaging and Inbox AI Replies are powered by ChatGPT under the hood — they suggest or auto-send guest replies inside the Hostaway inbox based on reservation details and your rules. That’s a feature inside Hostaway, not a connection to your Claude account. If someone tells you “Hostaway already has AI, so it works with Claude,” those are two different things.

The limits that actually matter

Even with a working connection, nothing Claude does starts because something happened in Hostaway. That has three consequences:

  • It never notices anything. Hostaway can announce a new booking, a cancellation, or an inbound guest message — but there’s nothing on Claude’s side to catch it and act. Nothing happens unless you open a chat and ask. No “when a guest messages after check-in, send the Wi-Fi and lockbox code.”
  • Nothing is watching. Claude pulls a reservation or a calendar when you ask. It doesn’t sit on your account watching bookings and following up. Between runs, the queue is unattended.
  • “Scheduled” isn’t really automatic. The closest thing Claude has to running on its own is a scheduled task — but it fires on a preset timer rather than when a reservation books or a guest writes in, and it has no inbox of its own. That’s not an event-driven front desk for a portfolio of listings.

What about email — can’t Claude just send the check-in details? Out of the box, no: Claude’s built-in email (both Gmail and Outlook) only drafts, it doesn’t send — you still hit send yourself. You could pay a developer to build sending in too, but it’s one more thing to maintain, and it still won’t fire the moment a guest writes in.

So Claude is good for “summarize this week’s arrivals and flag the back-to-back turnovers” and simply not built for “answer every guest message and send check-in details automatically, 24/7.”

If you want Hostaway work that runs on its own: Carly

The moment you want something to happen around Hostaway without you in the chat — greet a guest the instant they book, send door codes the morning of check-in, ping your cleaner when a same-day turnover appears, email an owner statement on the first of the month — you’ve walked past what Claude is for.

That’s where Carly fits. Carly is an AI executive assistant built to act on triggers. Hostaway connects to Carly natively, and Carly works the API and events for you:

  • When a new reservation comes in, Carly greets the guest, drafts the check-in details, and queues the door code to send the morning of arrival.
  • When a guest messages after hours, Carly reads the thread and reservation, answers the routine questions itself, and drafts anything that needs your eyes.
  • When a checkout is logged, Carly opens the cleaning task, notifies the cleaner for the turnover, and requests the review once it’s done.
  • On the first of the month, the owner statement for each listing rolls up and goes out automatically.

AI agents start at $35/month, and steps in a workflow that don’t use AI run free and unlimited. Carly connects to 200+ tools across 40+ categories — see integrations. Carly natively integrates with Hostaway.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Claude work with Hostaway?

Not officially. There’s no Claude Hostaway connector and Hostaway hasn’t built one. But Hostaway’s API is open and self-serve, so you can connect them by having someone build a connection against it or by using Zapier as a bridge. Both are unofficial, and like everything Claude, they act when you ask or on a schedule you set — never when a booking lands.

Is the Hostaway API free to access?

The API is self-serve — you generate your own Account ID and Secret API Key under Settings → Integrations → API, with no partner approval. There’s no separate developer application to get through, which is unusual for this category.

Isn’t Hostaway AI a Claude integration?

No. Hostaway AI (Guest Messaging and Inbox AI Replies) is Hostaway’s own in-product feature, powered by ChatGPT. It doesn’t connect to your Claude account.

What if I want Hostaway to act on its own — greet guests, send check-in codes?

That’s beyond what Claude does; it answers in a chat or on a schedule you set, and never on an event. Carly runs on triggers and schedules 24/7 in the cloud, and can message guests, send door codes, notify cleaners, and email owner statements without you. AI agents start at $35/month.

See what people say

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.

Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.

On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
