Claude + Looker Studio: What the Integration Can (and Can't) Do in 2026
No — there’s no Claude Looker Studio connector, no MCP server for it, and no official way for Claude to query your reports. This one trips people up because of a name collision: Google’s Looker (the enterprise Cloud BI platform) has an official, Google-hosted MCP server that Claude Code and Claude Desktop can use — but Looker Studio (the free drag-and-drop dashboard tool, renamed back to Data Studio in April 2026) is a different product, and it has no MCP server, no Claude connector, and no conversational API surface beyond the Gemini features baked into the product itself. So if you want Claude anywhere near Looker Studio, the realistic path is Claude → the data underneath your reports (BigQuery, Sheets, GA4), not the reports themselves.

Why Claude can’t query your Looker Studio data
It comes down to the API. The Looker Studio API does exactly two things:
- Search and list your Studio assets (
GET /assets:search) - Manage asset permissions (get/patch the people who can see a report)

Handy for templating a report link; useless for reading data out.
So: no data-out API, no webhooks, and no MCP. There is no official channel through which Claude can read what’s in your Looker Studio reports. (The product’s own AI lives inside it — Gemini in Looker and Conversational Analytics, Pro-gated — but that’s Google’s assistant in Google’s tool, not Claude.)
What actually works: point Claude at the data source
Since the reports are a dead end, go one layer down. A Looker Studio report is a view on top of BigQuery, Google Sheets, GA4, Search Console, or a SQL database — and those have real, queryable interfaces:
- BigQuery has a mature API (and MCP options) — Claude can run the same SQL your report is built on.
- Google Sheets and GA4 both have APIs Claude can read through.
So the honest pattern is: ask Claude to query BigQuery or read the underlying Sheet directly, rather than trying to reach the dashboard. You get the numbers; you just skip the Looker Studio layer, which was only ever a presentation surface.
And note the rename: as of April 2026 the product is officially Data Studio again (Google reversed the 2022 “Looker Studio” branding because sharing the name with enterprise Looker confused buyers). Same tool, same limitations here.
