Claude + OneNote: What the Integration Can (and Can't) Do in 2026
No — there’s no Claude OneNote connector, and here’s the twist: even Anthropic’s official Microsoft 365 connector doesn’t cover OneNote. What the Microsoft 365 connector does (and the OneNote gap)
Anthropic’s M365 connector is genuinely good for the rest of the suite: it’s on every Claude plan (Free through Enterprise), reads and searches by default, and admins can enable write tools like email send and file management. On Team/Enterprise it needs an Entra Global Admin to consent for the tenant.
For OneNote specifically, the nearest workaround is indirect: OneNote notebooks are stored as files in OneDrive/SharePoint, so Claude may surface a notebook file in search results. The strongest piece: the Graph OneNote API itself
Unlike most apps in the “no Claude connector” club, OneNote’s underlying API is first-class. The Microsoft Graph OneNote API is documented and supported: list notebooks, sections, and section groups; create sections; create pages from XHTML; fetch page HTML; PATCH page content; delete pages. OAuth 2.0 with delegated or application permissions, standard Graph throttling, and it works for both personal Microsoft accounts and M365 work/school accounts. (The old onenote.com API retired in Graph’s favor long ago.)
That matters because it means real trigger-and-schedule automation against OneNote is possible today — just not through Claude.
The limits that actually matter
- No official Claude path. No directory connector, no Microsoft MCP, and the M365 connector skips OneNote. The community servers work but carry an Entra-app-registration setup tax and no vendor support.
- No triggers. MCP tools run inside a conversation you start. There’s no “when the meeting ends, file the notes” — nothing fires on an event.
- Conversation-only. Claude reads and writes pages when you ask; close the chat and nothing continues.
- Laptop-bound for anything scheduled. Claude Cowork’s scheduled tasks run on a fixed clock, not on inbox events.
So Claude is useful for “pull up my notes and work on them with me” — and not built for “keep my notebooks filled and current on their own.”
