Notion Pricing in 2026: Every Tier, Plus the Costs Nobody Mentions
Notion has four plans: Free at $0, Plus at $10 per member/month, Business at $20 per member/month, and Enterprise at custom pricing. Those Plus and Business figures are the annual-billed rates; pay month-to-month and they rise to roughly $12 and $24 per member respectively. Pricing is per seat, so a 5-person team on Business is $100/month billed annually, not $20.
Yes, Notion is free — the Free plan has no time limit and no credit card requirement, and solo users get unlimited pages and blocks. But the free tier changes meaningfully the moment you add a second member, and full Notion AI now lives only on Business. The numbers below are current as of July 2026; prices change, so confirm against Notion’s official pricing page before you buy.
Notion plans at a glance
| Plan | Annual (per member/mo) | Monthly (per member/mo) | Page history | Guests | Notion AI |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 7 days | 10 | Limited trial |
| Plus | $10 | ~$12 | 30 days | Unlimited | Limited trial |
| Business | $20 | ~$24 | 90 days | Unlimited | Included (full) |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Unlimited | Negotiable | Included + zero data retention |
Prices and inclusions are from Notion’s pricing page. Guests are external collaborators invited to specific pages and never count as paid seats; only members do.
Free
The Free plan costs nothing and doesn’t expire. For a single person it is genuinely uncapped on pages and blocks — Notion removed the 1,000-block ceiling for single-member workspaces back in 2022. The caps that actually bite on Free are a 5 MB per-file upload limit, 10 guests, and 7 days of page history. Notion AI on Free is a limited trial, not the full assistant.
Plus — $10/member/month (annual), ~$12 monthly
Plus lifts the file-size cap to unlimited uploads, extends page history to 30 days, and gives you unlimited guests. It also adds custom forms, published sites, unlimited charts, and basic connections like Slack and Google Drive. Notion AI on Plus is still only the limited trial — this is the tier people expect to unlock AI on and don’t.
Business — $20/member/month (annual), ~$24 monthly
Business is the tier Notion marks as recommended, and it’s where full Notion AI is bundled in: the Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes, and Enterprise Search. It also adds SAML SSO, granular database permissions, private teamspaces, 90-day page history, and premium connections like GitHub and Asana. Note that Custom Agents run on a credit system billed separately at $10 per 1,000 credits, so heavy AI-automation use is metered on top of the seat price.
Enterprise — custom pricing
Enterprise is quote-only. On top of everything in Business it adds SCIM user provisioning (Okta, Azure AD, OneLogin), advanced security and content controls, full audit logs, unlimited page history, DLP/SIEM connections, a dedicated customer success manager, and zero data retention with the underlying LLM providers. Guest allowances are negotiable. You have to contact Notion sales for a number.
Costs that don’t show up on the pricing table
AI now forces a Business upgrade. Until mid-2025 you could attach a standalone Notion AI add-on (roughly $8–10 per member/month) to any plan, including Free or Plus. Notion eliminated that add-on on May 13, 2025 and folded full AI into the Business tier — see our breakdown of the Notion AI pricing change for the details. The practical effect: if you want the real Notion AI, you can no longer bolt it onto a $10 Plus plan. You pay $20 for Business, per seat, whether or not you need the rest of the Business feature set.
Monthly billing costs about 20% more. The advertised $10 and $20 prices assume annual billing. Choose monthly to keep flexibility and you pay roughly $12 and $24 per member instead. On a 10-seat Business workspace that’s about $2,880/year monthly versus $2,400 annually.
Guest and block limits push teams off Free fast. The Free plan’s 1,000-block cap returns the moment a workspace has two or more members. At that point you can still read and edit existing content but can’t add new blocks without upgrading. Combined with the 10-guest cap and 5 MB uploads, most teams outgrow Free within a few weeks of real use — which is generally the point.
Custom Agent credits are metered. As noted above, Business includes Notion AI, but Custom Agents draw down credits at $10 per 1,000. Automations that run frequently can add a variable line item on top of your fixed per-seat cost.
Is Notion free?
Yes, with real caveats. Notion’s Free plan is permanent, needs no credit card, and gives a solo user unlimited pages and blocks. Where “free” stops being free:
- Add a second member and the 1,000-block limit reappears for the whole workspace.
- Files are capped at 5 MB each, page history at 7 days, guests at 10.
- Full Notion AI is not on Free — you get only a limited trial.
For a solo note-taker or a small personal wiki, Free is often enough indefinitely. For a team, it’s better understood as an extended trial. Students and educators with a school email can get Plus free (limited to a single member). We cover exactly what does and doesn’t cap you in our deep dive on Notion’s free plan limits.
When Notion’s pricing stops making sense
Because Notion charges per seat and gates AI behind the $20 Business tier, costs scale quickly for larger teams that mostly need one or two features. If you’re paying Business rates primarily for databases, Airtable may be a closer fit; if it’s mainly task management, Todoist covers that lane more cheaply. It’s worth pricing out the specific job before committing a whole team to per-seat Business. Our roundup of Notion alternatives walks through where each option lands on price and use case.
FAQ
Is Notion really free forever? Yes. The Free plan has no time limit or credit card requirement. A single-member workspace gets unlimited pages and blocks; the caps are 5 MB uploads, 10 guests, and 7-day page history.
How much is Notion per month? Plus is $10 per member/month and Business is $20 per member/month when billed annually. Paying month-to-month raises those to roughly $12 and $24 per member. Enterprise is custom-quoted.
Do I have to pay for Notion AI separately? No longer — and that cuts both ways. Notion removed the standalone AI add-on in May 2025. Full Notion AI is now included in Business and Enterprise, so getting it means being on at least the $20 Business plan rather than adding it to a cheaper tier.
Do guests count as paid seats? No. Guests are external collaborators invited to specific pages and are always free. Only members count toward your per-seat bill, though guest counts are capped (10 on Free, unlimited on paid plans).

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.
Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.
On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
