ServiceM8 Pricing: You Pay for Jobs, Not Seats

ServiceM8 prices by jobs per month, not by user. Every paid plan includes unlimited users, and the only thing that changes as you climb the ladder is how many jobs you can create.

That makes it one of the few systems in field service where hiring a second technician does not increase your software bill.

The five plans

PlanPriceUsersJobs per month
Free$0130
Starter$29/moUnlimited50
Growing$79/moUnlimited150
Premium$149/moUnlimited500
Premium Plus$349/moUnlimited1,500+

There is a 14-day free trial, and a genuinely usable free tier at 30 jobs a month for a single user.

The feature list does not change

This is the unusual part. Read down the plan columns and the features are identical from Starter to Premium Plus: all essential features, AI Smart Helpers, recurring jobs, deposits, partial and progress invoices, supplier invoice importing, purchased forms, asset management, forms and certificates, proposals, bundles, the ServiceM8 Inbox, job costing, markup billing and knowledge.

The Free plan carries the same list too, with two limits: one user, and 10 AI uses per day. Every paid plan makes AI usage unlimited.

So there is no feature you unlock by upgrading. You are buying volume, and only volume.

What a job actually costs

Because the plans are volume tiers on identical features, the interesting number is cost per job at capacity.

PlanJobsCost per job
Starter5058¢
Growing15053¢
Premium50030¢
Premium Plus1,50023¢

The efficiency improves sharply between Growing and Premium. If you are running 140 jobs a month on Growing at 53¢ each, moving to Premium costs $70 more and drops you to 30¢ per job at capacity. Whether that is worth it depends entirely on whether you will use the headroom.

The trap runs the other way too. On Premium at $149 doing 160 jobs, you are paying 93¢ a job, and Growing at $79 would nearly cover you. The plan boundaries are worth checking against your actual monthly job count rather than your busiest month.

The add-on to budget for

ServiceM8 Phone starts at $19 a month on every plan. It is a phone system built into the job record: caller ID that greets clients by name and shows their active quotes and work orders on screen, call routing for remote working, and call workflow tools.

It is the one meaningful cost outside the plan price, and it is priced the same regardless of which tier you are on.

Who the free plan actually works for

Thirty jobs a month with one user is a real business, not a demo. A sole trader doing seven or eight jobs a week can run on ServiceM8 free indefinitely, with the same job cards, invoicing and forms as a company on Premium Plus. The daily AI cap of ten uses is the main thing that will push you to Starter, and $29 is a small step.

Where job-based pricing leaves a gap

Pricing by job volume is honest and it scales the right way. What it does not price is everything that happens between the enquiry and the job, and that is where most trades businesses lose money.

The quote that never got followed up. The customer who called during a job and never got a call back. The Sunday email asking to reschedule Tuesday. None of those are jobs yet, so none of them count against your plan, and all of them land on whoever is holding the phone.

Carly picks up exactly that stretch. Zapier-style workflows are free, so quote follow-ups, reminder sequences and missed-call replies cost nothing to run. Booking pages and connected calendars are unlimited, so a customer can pick a slot instead of playing phone tag. Every Gmail and Outlook account connects as its own authorized connection, so replies come from the address the customer already wrote to. The agent that reads the message, drafts the reply and books the visit starts at $35 a month, and Carly connects to thousands of apps, so the job card, the invoice and the certificate stay in ServiceM8.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.

Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.

On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
