Claude + Cliniko: Connect Your Practice Software to Claude

Cliniko doesn’t offer a Claude connector, and it hasn’t published an MCP server. It does have a proper API, and any Cliniko user can generate a key from their own account in about a minute. Connect that key to Carly, add the Carly connector to Claude, and your patients, appointments, practitioners and invoices are in the chat.

Where Cliniko stands with Claude

As of November 5, 2026, there’s no Cliniko connector in Claude’s directory and no official Cliniko MCP server. A few community-built servers exist on GitHub, and each one has to be installed on your own machine and handed your API key, which is a lot to ask a clinic.

Cliniko’s API covers the front desk and the books: patients, appointments, practitioners, businesses, availability and invoices. Keys are generated per user and carry your data region, so a key from an Australian account talks to Australian servers.

How to connect Cliniko to Claude through Carly

  1. Generate a Cliniko API key. In Cliniko, click your name, open My info, enable API key creation if it’s off, then open Manage API keys and add one. Copy it straight away; Cliniko shows it once.
  2. Connect Cliniko in Carly. In Carly, go to Integrations → Connect an API and paste the key.
  3. Add Carly to Claude. Click Get the Carly connector, then Connect, and sign in.
  4. Ask Claude about your practice. It answers through the Carly connector with live Cliniko data.

Rather not touch API keys? Book a call and we’ll set it up with you.

What Claude can do with Cliniko once Carly is in

  • “Who’s booked with Emily tomorrow, and are there gaps?”
  • “Which patients haven’t had an appointment in three months?”
  • “List invoices over 30 days unpaid.”
  • “How many new patients did each practitioner see this month?”

With your Gmail or Outlook connected in Carly too, Claude can match a patient’s email to their appointment history in one step.

Where Claude stops

Claude answers when you ask. Its scheduled tasks run on a clock, and nothing in Cliniko can start one. A cancellation that opens a prime slot, a patient overdue for a review, an invoice that just went 30 days: all of it waits for someone to open a chat.

Carly handles those in the cloud, on a schedule you set or when an email arrives:

  • Every evening at 7, email each practitioner tomorrow’s list with notes.
  • Three months after a last visit, email patients who haven’t rebooked, from your address.
  • When a patient emails asking for a time, check availability in Cliniko and draft a reply with the openings.
  • Every Monday, email the practice owner last week’s appointments, new patients and unpaid invoices.

Carly also answers the practice phone, books on your calendar and texts reminders, so the same rules run on calls as on email. Carly connects to thousands of apps, and you set it up in plain English. Routine steps run as free Zapier-style workflows; work that needs judgment runs as an AI agent. Free Zapier-style workflows; AI agents from $35/month. For US practices under HIPAA, Carly signs a BAA on Enterprise plans. Get started with Carly.

See what people say

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.

Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.

On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
