How to Connect Multiple Gmail Accounts to Perplexity
Perplexity connects Gmail, but it does not document a way to keep two Gmail accounts connected at once. Its web app can query Gmail and Google Workspace Mail. Sending is exposed through Comet, and the calendar half of the same connector is explicitly limited to one primary calendar. Carly keeps multiple Gmail identities separate and makes them reachable through one remote connector.
What Perplexity’s Gmail connector actually does
The Gmail and Google Calendar Connector is a single combined connection under Settings → Connectors. In the Perplexity web app it searches and summarizes Gmail, reads the primary calendar, and can update that calendar.
Email writing is split by product surface. The same help article says that Comet can create events or send email from its Assistant. The connection requests broad Gmail permissions at authorization, including read, compose, and send, but the ordinary Perplexity web experience documents query prompts rather than a send action. Permission granted is not the same as action exposed.
Connectors are a paid feature. Perplexity’s Slack connector help page lists connector availability on Pro, Max, Enterprise Pro, and Enterprise Max, not Free. The individual plans cost $20 per month for Pro and $200 per month for Max; Enterprise plans add organization controls.
What is known about multiple accounts
Perplexity does not publish a per-connector account limit or a second-Gmail setup flow. Its help center never says whether a second authorization is added, rejected, or substituted for the first.
The one hard limit is on calendars: the Gmail connector can query only one primary calendar, and secondary calendars are not supported. That is about calendars inside the connected Google identity, not proof of how many Google identities the product can hold.
A Perplexity-hosted community request from 2025 says one Google integration replaces another, but Perplexity never confirmed the claim. Treat the native multi-account behavior as undocumented, not as a tested promise.
1. Give each Gmail account a role
For example, all fictional:
| Address | Role |
|---|---|
fictional.noah.patel@gmail.com | Personal |
fictional.noah.patel@spotify.com | Main Company |
fictional.noah.patel@lego.com | Client |
Use the role when searching and the full address before any send or modification.
2. Connect every Gmail account to Carly
- Sign in at carlyassistant.com.
- Open carlyassistant.com/integrations.
- Find Gmail and click Connect.
- Choose the first Google account and approve access.
- Return to the integrations page and select Gmail → Connect again.
- Choose Use another account if Google preselects the last address.
- Confirm the full address after each authorization.
Each mailbox remains an independent connection. Nothing is forwarded or merged.
3. Add Carly as a custom remote connector
Perplexity shipped Bring Your Own Connector for Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscribers in March 2026. To add Carly:
- Open Settings → Connectors.
- Select + Custom connector.
- Choose Remote.
- Enter a name and
https://carlyassistant.com/mcp/as the MCP server URL. - Choose the authentication option and acknowledge the third-party connector risk.
- Add the connector and finish authorization.
Perplexity’s remote connector guide supports HTTPS servers over Streamable HTTP or SSE. Enterprise administrators can share a connector across the organization and decide whether members may add their own; that member permission is disabled by default.
4. Test each inbox read-only
In
fictional.noah.patel@spotify.com, list the sender and subject of the five newest unread messages. Do not change anything.
In
fictional.noah.patel@lego.com, find the latest message containing “campaign brief.” Name the source account and do not draft.
Then span the accounts:
Search the Spotify and Lego example accounts for “invoice” from the last 30 days. Include the full source address in every row.
5. Reuse this routing prompt
Treat
fictional.noah.patel@gmail.comas Personal,fictional.noah.patel@spotify.comas Main Company, andfictional.noah.patel@lego.comas Client. State the target address before any change. Wait for approval before drafts, sends, labels, deletes, or calendar edits.
Then keep the destination explicit:
Draft a reply from
fictional.noah.patel@spotify.com. Do not send yet.
Send the approved reply from
fictional.noah.patel@lego.comonly.

Frequently asked questions
Can Perplexity connect two Gmail accounts?
Perplexity does not document a second-account setup or state what happens if you authorize another Google identity. Carly keeps several separately authorized Gmail accounts available through one connector.
Can Perplexity send Gmail messages?
Yes through Comet Assistant. The ordinary Perplexity web app documents querying Gmail; Comet is the surface Perplexity names for sending email and creating events.
Can Perplexity read multiple Google Calendars?
No. Its Gmail and Google Calendar connector is documented as querying one primary calendar, not secondary calendars.
Does Perplexity accept a custom MCP server URL?
Yes. Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscribers can add a custom remote connector with OAuth, API-key, or open authentication. Enterprise administrators control whether members can create their own.

See what people say
"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.
Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.
On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
