How to Connect Multiple Gmail Accounts to ChatGPT Work
ChatGPT Work connects several Gmail accounts natively. OpenAI shipped it on 28 August 2026, alongside Google Calendar and Google Contacts, so personal and work mail can answer the same task without switching logins. Open Plugins, click the gear on your Gmail connection, and add the next account.
That release did not cover everything, and OpenAI’s September 17, 2026 follow-up, which extended multiple accounts to plugins beyond Google on every plan, named no plugins at all. So whether Drive, Outlook or Slack takes a second account on your plan is a per-connection check, not a documented fact.
1. Add the second Gmail account
- Open Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar.
- Find Gmail in your connected plugins.
- Click the gear icon on the connection.
- Choose to add an account, then sign in to the next Google identity.
- Approve the access request.
- Confirm the full address before adding another.
If a Google Workspace account requires administrator review, ask the Workspace administrator to approve it, then finish authorization. Repeat for every independent Google identity. Google Calendar and Google Contacts work the same way.
2. Name the account in every instruction
With several identities attached, the account has to be explicit or you get a confident answer from whichever one ChatGPT reached for:

Keep approval enabled for consequential actions while you are testing. It makes the target account visible before a send or a move runs.

Connecting a second Gmail to ChatGPT has worked since August 2026, and OpenAI says a second account on other plugins works too, as of September 17, 2026, on every plan. It has not said which plugins, how many accounts each can hold, or anything about Codex. There is a second gap that no amount of accounts fixes: the task starts when you open it. Mail landing in any of those inboxes does not begin anything.
