Can Claude Cowork Connect to Multiple Email Accounts?
Only one of each. Claude Cowork uses Claude’s connectors, so a task can hold one Gmail account and one Outlook work account at the same time. A second Gmail replaces the first, and so does a second Microsoft organization.
With Carly, it covers all of them. Add the Carly connector in Claude and one Cowork task works across every inbox you have, Gmail and Outlook together.
Do this instead
- Connect each mailbox at carlyassistant.com/integrations: every Gmail, every Outlook, work and personal.
- In Claude, click Get the Carly connector, then Connect, and sign in with your Carly account.
- In the Cowork task’s + menu, choose Connectors and turn Carly on.
- Ask across all of them at once:
Every Monday at 8am, go through all my inboxes and give me one list: who is waiting on me, which invoices came in, and which meetings still need a reply.

Where the native connectors stop
Connector authorization is per account, not per person. Claude and Gemini each hold one Google account at a time, so the second inbox is reachable only by replacing the first. Anthropic has an open feature request asking for several named accounts on one connector, which is a fair signal it is not possible today. Carly carries all of them at once.
Cowork adds a sharper version of the same problem. Its tasks run on a schedule while you are away, so a Monday briefing built on two of your five inboxes looks complete and isn’t. Nothing in the output tells you which accounts were never read.
The Outlook side carries its own limits. Claude’s Microsoft 365 connector only accepts work accounts on a Microsoft Entra tenant, so a personal @outlook.com or @hotmail.com address cannot connect at all, and it rejects any outgoing message with an attachment.
What a Cowork task reaches once Carly is connected
- Every inbox in one task. Two Gmail accounts, a work Outlook, a client’s Microsoft 365 and a personal Outlook.com, in a single run.
- Every calendar too. The same connection covers Google and Outlook calendars, so the task can check who is free before it proposes a time.
- Shared mailboxes are real mailboxes. A team inbox like
support@connects on its own and Carly replies from it. - Attachments go out with the mail.
- Mail arriving starts the work. Carly workflows run when an email lands, so a client who writes at 9pm gets an answer before the next scheduled run.
- The rest of your stack is reachable. Carly connects to thousands of apps, so the task can log the reply in your CRM or open the follow-up in Asana.

Frequently asked questions
How many email accounts can Claude Cowork use?
Two at most through the native connectors: one Google account and one Microsoft work account. Connect your mailboxes to Carly instead and a Cowork task reaches as many as you add.
Can Claude Cowork read my work and personal email together?
Only if one is Gmail and the other is a Microsoft work account. Two Gmail accounts, or a personal Outlook.com address, need Carly. Your work and personal email stay separate; Carly just sees both.
Does a Cowork task see the accounts I connect in Claude chat?
Yes. Cowork has no connectors of its own, so it sees exactly what is connected in Claude.
Can Cowork reply to email on a schedule?
It can draft on a schedule, but it only starts on the clock. Carly also starts when the email arrives, and it replies from the address the thread came in on, attachments included.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.
Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.
On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
