Personal and work Gmail inboxes reaching one Grok Bot through Carly

Can Grok Bot Connect to Multiple Gmail Accounts?

No, Grok Bot holds one Gmail account at a time. Cursor’s own Grok Bot help answers the question directly: “Gmail connects one mailbox at a time,” and “you cannot keep a personal mailbox and a work mailbox connected to Gmail at the same time.” Reaching the other inbox means disconnecting and authorizing again.

Carly gives Grok Bot all of your Gmail. Add the Carly connector once and every Bot works across your personal Gmail and every Workspace domain together, with no disconnecting.

Carly turns Grok Bot into a real Gmail assistant

Keep asking Grok Bot. With Carly connected, it can:

  • Search every Gmail account in one go, personal and each Workspace domain, plus Outlook if you have it.
  • Apply your Gmail labels the same way every time, by the rules you set, on every new email.
  • Send from the account the thread lives in, attachments included.
  • Start work as new mail lands in any inbox, on Carly’s side, so your Grok Bot usage isn’t touched.
  • Text you about the email that needs you today.
  • Hand off to any app. Carly connects to thousands of apps, from Drive and Dropbox to HubSpot and Asana.

Do this instead

  1. Connect every Gmail address at carlyassistant.com/integrations: personal Gmail, each Google Workspace domain, client accounts, and Outlook if you have it.
  2. In a chat with your Bot, send this message: Confirm the details it reads back, then click Authorize and sign in to Carly.
  3. Ask across all of them at once:

Check all my inboxes for anything from Stripe or the bank this week and tell me what needs a reply before Friday.

That is the whole setup. Get started at carlyassistant.com.

Why the Gmail plugin stops at one

Grok Bot reaches Gmail through a plugin from Cursor’s marketplace, a wrapper around Google’s own Gmail server. Some plugins can take a second account: Cursor’s help shows an Add Another Account button for things like two Notion workspaces. Gmail is named as one that can’t, and the help says that if you don’t see the button, the plugin connects one account at a time.

There’s a second catch. “An installed plugin is available to every bot on that Grok Bot account,” so the one inbox you do connect is shared by every Bot you run. Cursor’s advice for keeping a Bot out of a mailbox is to disconnect Gmail.

One connected inbox means confident wrong answers

A Bot answers from the inbox it holds and says nothing about the others. Ask for every unpaid invoice and it reports what’s in the connected mailbox, with no hint that a second inbox exists.

Disconnecting and reconnecting gets you the inboxes in turns. It never gets you the questions that need both: one client across every address you use, a brief that covers all of them, a thread in one domain checked against another.

What you can automate across all of them

Carly works your inboxes when no Bot is running. These run in every Gmail account you connect, and in Outlook too:

  • Text me when an urgent email arrives. A real person waiting on you, a deadline or money sends a text to your phone. Everything routine stays quiet.
  • Label and sort every email. Carly applies the Gmail labels you already have and follows your rules the same way every time. Anything it is unsure about is left alone, and nothing is deleted.
  • Draft replies to the emails that need you. Carly reads the full thread and saves a reply in your voice to Drafts.
  • Chase a quiet prospect and stop when they reply. Three touches at three, seven and fourteen days, called off by any answer.
  • File attachments where they belong. A signed contract lands in the right Drive, Box or Dropbox folder and gets logged in a sheet.
  • Open the CRM record from the first enquiry, in HubSpot, Pipedrive or Attio.

Carly connects to thousands of apps, so the far end of any automation can be a tool you already pay for. Browse more at carlyassistant.com/workflows.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect two Gmail accounts to Grok Bot?

No. Cursor’s Grok Bot help says Gmail connects one mailbox at a time and that a personal and a work mailbox can’t stay connected together. Connect both to Carly and add the Carly connector once, and every Bot reaches them together.

How do I add a custom connector to Grok Bot?

From the chat. Cursor’s support team says Grok Bot manages connectors through the conversation: send “Add this MCP server:” with the address, confirm, and authorize. Carly’s address is https://carlyassistant.com/mcp. On a Cursor team plan, an admin’s MCP policy can restrict which servers members add.

Does every Bot get access to my Gmail?

Yes. Installed plugins belong to your Grok Bot account, not to one Bot, so the connected inbox is available to all of them. Carly connectors work the same way at the account level, so use Grok Bot’s approval rules for sends you want to see first.

Can I mix Gmail and Outlook accounts?

Yes, through Carly. Connect every account on either provider at carlyassistant.com/integrations, and one request covers all of them. For the Outlook side, see Can Grok Bot connect to multiple Outlook accounts?

How many Gmail accounts can Carly hold?

As many as you connect. Add a client domain when the work starts and remove it when it ends, without touching the others.

See what people say

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.

Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.

On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
