Claude + Bill4Time: Connect Your Billing Data to Claude
Bill4Time doesn’t offer a Claude connector, and it hasn’t published an MCP server. It does let you create an API key in its settings in about a minute. Connect that key to Carly, add the Carly connector to Claude, and your time entries, invoices and payments are in the chat.
Where Bill4Time stands with Claude
As of October 16, 2026, there’s no Bill4Time connector in Claude and no official Bill4Time MCP server.
Bill4Time’s public API covers the data a billing partner actually asks about: clients, projects, time entries, expenses, invoices, payments, users, contacts and trust accounting. It’s read-only today, so new entries and invoices still get created in Bill4Time itself. For reporting and chasing money, reading is the part that matters.

What Claude can do with Bill4Time once Carly is in
- “Which clients have invoices more than 60 days past due, and how much does each one owe?”
- “How many hours did Michael Bennett bill on the Harper Logistics project last week?”
- “Total this month’s billable hours by attorney and compare it with September.”
- “What’s left in trust for the Whitaker estate, and what was the last payment applied?”
With your Gmail or Outlook connected in Carly too, Claude can match a client’s email to their open invoices in one step.
Where Claude stops
Claude answers when you ask. Its scheduled tasks run on a clock, and nothing in Bill4Time can start one. An invoice tipping past 30 days, a client asking what they owe, an attorney who forgot to log Friday’s hours: all of it waits for someone to open a chat.
Carly handles those, in the cloud, on a schedule you set or when an email comes in:
- Every Monday at 8, email each attorney the hours they logged last week, by project.
- On the 1st, list every invoice more than 30 days past due and draft a polite reminder to each client from your own Outlook or Gmail, ready for you to approve.
- When a client emails about their balance, look up their invoices and payments and draft the answer.
- Every Friday at 4, post the week’s billable hours by attorney to the firm’s Slack or Teams.
Carly connects to thousands of apps, so the same workflow can update QuickBooks, add a task in your practice management system, or put a collections call on your calendar. You set it up in plain English. Routine steps run as free Zapier-style workflows; work that needs judgment runs as an AI agent. Free Zapier-style workflows; AI agents from $35/month. Where do I get a Bill4Time API key?
Settings → API tab. Create a key there. You can create several and give each tool its own.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.
Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.
On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
