Claude + LawPay: Connect Your Firm's Payments to Claude

LawPay doesn’t offer a Claude connector, and it hasn’t published an MCP server. Its Developers page does hand you an API key in a few clicks. Connect that key to Carly, add the Carly connector to Claude, and your payments and payment plans are in the chat.

Where LawPay stands with Claude

As of October 16, 2026, there’s no LawPay connector in Claude and no official MCP server. LawPay is now 8am LawPay, after its parent company AffiniPay renamed itself 8am, and the API behind it is the 8am Payment Gateway.

That API is what LawPay gives your website developer. It covers transactions, charges and refunds, recurring charges (the payment plans you set up for clients) and the event log. Every firm account has the credentials for it, so you don’t need a partner agreement.

How to connect LawPay to Claude through Carly

  1. Get your API credentials. Log in to LawPay, click your name in the top right and choose Developers. Under Authorized Applications, click Authorize Application, pick My Website, then click Show Credentials. Copy the Live Secret Key. Only the account owner and users with the Administrator or Developer role see this page.
  2. Connect LawPay in Carly. In Carly, go to Integrations → Connect an API and connect LawPay there.
  3. Add Carly to Claude. Click Get the Carly connector, then Connect, and sign in.
  4. Ask Claude about your payments. It answers through the Carly connector with live LawPay data.

Treat the secret key like your bank password: paste it into the Carly integrations page and nowhere else, never into a chat or an email.

What Claude can do with LawPay once Carly is in

  • “Which payments came in yesterday, and which account did each one land in, trust or operating?”
  • “Did Emily Parker’s retainer payment go through? How much, and when?”
  • “List every payment plan with a failed payment this month.”
  • “Total September’s card and eCheck payments so I can reconcile.”

With your Gmail or Outlook and your practice management system connected in Carly too, Claude can match a payment to the client, the matter and the invoice email in one step.

Where Claude stops

Claude answers when you ask. Its scheduled tasks run on a clock, and nothing in LawPay can start one. A payment plan that fails at 2am, a client emailing to say they’ve paid, a retainer that needs to be acknowledged before the matter opens: all of it waits for someone to open a chat.

Carly handles those, in the cloud, on a schedule you set or when an email comes in:

  • Every morning at 8, list yesterday’s LawPay payments by account and email the summary to your bookkeeper.
  • Every Monday, find payment plans with a failed payment and draft a short note to each client from your own email, ready for you to approve.
  • When a client emails that they’ve paid, check LawPay for the payment and reply with a confirmation.
  • On the 1st, total last month’s payments by trust and operating and add them to your reconciliation sheet.

Carly connects to thousands of apps, so the same workflow can update QuickBooks, log the payment in Clio or MyCase, or post a note to the firm’s Slack. You set it up in plain English. FAQ

Does Claude work with LawPay?

Not directly. LawPay has no Claude connector and no official MCP server. Connect LawPay to Carly with your API credentials, add the Carly connector to Claude, and Claude can work with your LawPay data.

Where do I find my LawPay API key?

In LawPay, click your name in the top right, then Developers. Authorize the My Website application and click Show Credentials. The Live Secret Key is the one Carly needs.

Why can’t I see the Developers page?

It’s limited to the account owner and users with the Administrator or Developer role. Ask whoever owns the LawPay account to add the role or to connect it for you.

Is LawPay the same as 8am?

Yes. AffiniPay, the company behind LawPay and MyCase, renamed itself 8am in August 2025, so the product now appears as 8am LawPay. The product itself is the same.

See what people say

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.

Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.

On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
