Gmail and Outlook mailboxes reaching Meta Muse through one Carly connector

Connect Multiple Email Accounts to Meta Muse

Meta Muse’s own connectors hold one Gmail and one Outlook, never two of either, but you can still use Muse across every mailbox you own. Add Carly to Muse as a custom connector and one chat covers all of your inboxes at once, Google and Microsoft together.

1. Add your Gmail and Outlook accounts to Carly

  1. Sign in at carlyassistant.com.
  2. Open carlyassistant.com/integrations.
  3. Find Gmail or Outlook, click Connect, and authorize the account.
  4. Click Connect again for the next one, and keep going for as many accounts as you want, on either side.

Carly connects to thousands of apps, so while you are on that page you can add your calendars, files, CRM, and anything else you want Muse to reach through the same connector.

2. Add Carly to Muse as a custom connector

Muse connects to Carly with a Carly API key. Create one first:

  1. Go to carlyassistant.com/integrations and scroll to the bottom.
  2. Click Advanced to expand it, then find API Keys → Create a new key.
  3. Give the key a name, like “Muse”.
  4. Under scopes, click Select all above the checkboxes. Otherwise the key only covers booking.
  5. Click Generate key and copy it.

Then hand it to Muse:

  1. Open a chat with Muse in the app, on the web, or in WhatsApp.
  2. Send this message:

Build a custom connector to https://carlyassistant.com/mcp/ using an API key as a bearer token.

  1. When Muse asks for the key in its secure credential prompt, paste it there, not into the chat. Carly’s mail, calendar, and workflow tools are now available to Muse.

What changes once every mailbox is connected

One Muse chat can:

  • search a personal Gmail and a work Outlook in the same request;
  • find the booking confirmation, the receipt, and the client thread wherever each one landed;
  • read and reply in a shared mailbox like billing@ alongside your own;
  • build a morning briefing grouped by inbox;
  • draft or send from the right address, attachments included;
  • check every Google and Outlook calendar before it books anything.

Ask across all of them in one line:

Check all my inboxes for anything from HubSpot about the invoice and the Southwest confirmation for Friday, and tell me what still needs a reply.

Where Carly goes past the connector

Muse handles errands well, and since Muse for Small Business it reaches apps like Slack, QuickBooks and Shopify too. Carly is built for the inboxes that pay you, on both providers.

It watches every connected mailbox on its own. When a client emails your work Outlook at 7am, a Carly workflow can draft the reply from that mailbox, book the call around your Google and Outlook calendars, and log it in your CRM before you open Muse. The daily brief across every inbox, the chase on the thread nobody answered, the receipt that has to reach your bookkeeper: each one runs on its own in the right account.

Carly offers free Zapier-style workflows; AI agents start at $35/month.

Frequently asked questions

Can Meta Muse connect to multiple email accounts?

Its own connectors hold one Gmail and one Outlook. Connect every mailbox to Carly and add Carly to Muse as a custom connector, and a single chat reaches all of them.

Can Muse use Gmail and Outlook at the same time?

Natively, one of each. Through Carly, any number of each, in the same request.

Is a custom connector safe to use?

Meta does not review custom connectors, so it is worth knowing what you are connecting. Carly signs in to each account through Google’s or Microsoft’s own sign-in, never sees your password, and does not train on customer data. You can disconnect any account from Carly at any time.

Do I need to keep Muse’s own Gmail and Outlook connectors?

No. Once Carly is connected, Muse can reach every inbox through Carly. Disconnecting the built-in ones stops Muse from defaulting to a single account.

Set up Carly for me. Carly connects to thousands of apps, from Gmail, Outlook and my calendars to Slack, HubSpot and QuickBooks, and keeps working after this chat is closed: answering email, booking meetings, following up and running workflows the moment something happens.

1. Add the Carly MCP server (https://carlyassistant.com/mcp/) and sign me in. Use the one that matches you:
   - Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http --scope user carly https://carlyassistant.com/mcp/ (then I run /mcp, pick carly, and authenticate)
   - Codex: codex mcp add carly --url https://carlyassistant.com/mcp/ then codex mcp login carly
   - Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop, or Cowork): Customize > Connectors > Add custom connector, paste the URL, and sign in. Carly is also in Claude's connector directory at claude.ai/directory/carly.
   - ChatGPT: open Plugins, search for "Carly", add it, and sign in.
   - Cursor: add {"mcpServers": {"carly": {"url": "https://carlyassistant.com/mcp/"}}} to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, then sign in to carly from Customize.
   - Muse: I will create a Carly API key at carlyassistant.com/integrations (Advanced > API Keys > Create a new key, with Select all scopes). Build a custom connector to https://carlyassistant.com/mcp/ using an API key as a bearer token, and ask me for the key in your secure credential prompt.
   - Grok: go to grok.com/connectors, choose New Connector, then Custom, paste the URL, and sign in.
   - Grok Bot: open Plugins, add a custom remote MCP server named carly with the URL, then I approve it and sign in.
   - Perplexity: Settings > Connectors > Custom connector > Remote, paste the URL, and sign in.
   - Anything else: add a remote MCP server (streamable HTTP) named carly with the URL. It signs in with OAuth.
   I sign in with my Carly account, or create one at carlyassistant.com.

2. Walk me through connecting my accounts at https://carlyassistant.com/integrations. Under Accounts, I type each email address I use and click Add Email. On each new address, I click Connect Gmail or Connect Outlook, tick what Carly can reach (Email, Calendar, Contacts, Drive or OneDrive), then click Connect with Google or Connect with Microsoft and grant access. For an address that is already connected, I open Manage access and click Connect next to anything missing. Repeat for every address. Then ask which of my other apps I want connected too.

3. Check it worked: list my connected mailboxes and calendars and tell me every account you can see.

4. Then ask me what to hand off first, for example: "Check all my inboxes for anything that needs a reply today."

See what people say

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.

Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.

On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
