Zoom Statistics 2026: Users, Revenue & Zoom vs Teams

The most quoted Zoom number, 300 million daily users, was corrected by Zoom within a day of publishing it. The April 22, 2020 blog post announcing it was headlined “Zoom Surpasses 300M Daily Users,” and by April 24 the headline read “Daily Meeting Participants,” a count that tallies someone in five meetings five times. Zoom hasn’t published a platform-wide user count since 2020, and it has since retired two customer counts as well. Here are the Zoom statistics that can be sourced in 2026, company-reported first, each linked inline with its date. Zoom’s fiscal year ends January 31, so fiscal 2027 runs February 2026 to January 2027.

The 300 million “daily users” were daily meeting participants

“Zoom Surpasses 300M Daily Users” was the headline of Zoom’s April 22, 2020 blog post, and its body said Zoom was scaling capacity “even with more than 300 million daily users” and that “more than 300 million people around the world are using Zoom” (Zoom blog, archived April 23, 2020, 2020). The opening paragraph of the same post already said “300 million daily Zoom meeting participants.”

By April 24, the headline read “Zoom Surpasses 300M Daily Meeting Participants”, and the “daily users” and “300 million people” lines had been reworded. An edit note added on April 29 says: “This blog originally referred to meeting participants as ‘users’ and ‘people.’ This was an oversight on our part” (Zoom blog, archived April 30, 2020, 2020). The post’s original URL now redirects to Zoom’s blog homepage, so the archived copies are the record.

The difference is double counting. “Daily meeting participants can be counted multiple times: if you have five Zoom meetings in a day then you’re counted five times,” The Verge reported (2020), and Zoom told the outlet the wording was “a genuine oversight on our part.”

300 million was a peak, not an average. Zoom’s next earnings remarks said it “peaked at over 300 million daily participants, free and paid, joining Zoom meetings in April 2020, up from 10 million in December 2019” (Zoom Q1 FY2021 prepared remarks, 2020). How much of the workday those meetings take now is covered in meeting statistics.

Zoom went from 10 million to 300 million daily participants in four months

About 10 million daily meeting participants at the end of December 2019, and more than 200 million in March 2020, both free and paid, per founder Eric Yuan (Zoom, 2020). The same post says more than 90,000 schools across 20 countries had taken up Zoom’s offer to help children learn remotely.

Annualized meeting minutes rose about twentyfold, from 100 billion at the end of January 2020 to over 2 trillion on April 2020’s run rate (Zoom Q1 FY2021 prepared remarks, 2020). By October 31, 2020 the run rate was 3.5 trillion meeting minutes (Zoom Q3 FY2021 prepared remarks, 2020).

Much of that usage paid nothing. Zoom’s latest annual report says a significant portion of fiscal 2021’s growth in usage “was attributable to free Basic accounts, which do not generate any revenue” (Zoom 10-K, 2026). The work-from-home shift behind the spike, and where it settled, is in remote work statistics.

Zoom hasn’t published a daily participant, meeting-minute or platform-wide user count since, by our reading of every set of quarterly prepared remarks on its investor site from June 2020 to August 2026 and its annual 10-K filings.

How many people use Zoom in 2026: Zoom reports growth rates, not a total

Zoom has described AI adoption with four different metrics in two years, and only the first came with an absolute number:

My Notes, Zoom’s AI note-taker, passed 1.5 million monthly active users excluding trials four months after launch (Zoom Q1 FY2027 prepared remarks, 2026).

Team Chat monthly active users rose 20% year over year in the quarter ended October 31, 2025 (Zoom Q3 FY2026 prepared remarks, 2025).

Zoom’s Q2 fiscal 2027 prepared remarks were delivered by AI avatars. The head of investor relations opened by saying he, CEO Eric Yuan and CFO Michelle Chang were all giving their scripted remarks “by Zoom Custom Avatar” (Zoom Q2 FY2027 prepared remarks, 2026).

How many companies use Zoom: about 186,400 Enterprise customers at last count

Zoom had about 186,400 Enterprise customers on January 31, 2026, the last time it published the number (Zoom Q4 FY2026 investor deck, 2026). Its August 2026 deck dropped the line. Zoom counts an Enterprise customer as a business unit engaged through its sales team, resellers or partners, and a “customer” can be a single paid user or an organization of any size.

The drop after 2024 was mostly a reclassification, not lost customers. Zoom moved about 26,800 lower-paying Enterprise customers to its self-serve Online channel in early 2024 and about 11,400 more in early 2025, and says neither move materially changed its revenue mix (Zoom Q4 FY2026 investor deck, 2026). Set the 11,400 aside and the count rose by about 5,200 in fiscal 2026, by our arithmetic. In February 2025 it said the Enterprise count “has become less meaningful as a customer metric” and stopped putting it in earnings releases (Zoom Q4 FY2025 results, 2025).

It is the second customer count Zoom has retired. It stopped reporting customers with more than 10 employees from fiscal 2023, after the number went from 81,900 in January 2020 to 467,100 in January 2021 and 509,800 in January 2022 (Zoom 10-K, fiscal 2022). Zoom doesn’t publish its number of Online customers.

4,625 customers paid Zoom more than $100,000 over the trailing 12 months as of July 31, 2026, up 8.2% year over year (Zoom Q2 FY2027 results, 2026). They make up 33% of total revenue (Zoom Q2 FY2027 prepared remarks, 2026). The count was 4,088 a year and a half earlier, on January 31, 2025.

Zoom revenue was $4.87 billion in fiscal 2026, guided to about $5.09 billion in 2027

$1,277.2 million in revenue in the quarter ended July 31, 2026, up 4.9% year over year (Zoom Q2 FY2027 results, 2026). Enterprise revenue grew 7.8% to $787.5 million, its fastest rate in three years, while Online revenue grew 0.6% to $489.7 million.

Enterprise is now 62% of Zoom’s revenue, up from 57.9% in fiscal 2024 (Zoom Q2 FY2027 prepared remarks, 2026; Zoom 10-K, 2026). Online customers churned at an average 2.9% a month in the quarter.

72.1% of fiscal 2026 revenue came from the Americas, 15.8% from EMEA and 12.1% from Asia-Pacific (Zoom 10-K, 2026).

Net dollar expansion for Enterprise customers was 99% on a trailing 12-month basis, up from 98% a year earlier (Zoom Q2 FY2027 results, 2026). Below 100% means existing Enterprise customers, as a group, spend slightly less each year than the year before.

Zoom’s non-GAAP operating margin was 40.0% in the quarter, and it guided to $1.78 to $1.82 billion in free cash flow for fiscal 2027, with $7.2 billion in cash and marketable securities on July 31, 2026 (Zoom Q2 FY2027 results, 2026). The company has been Zoom Communications, Inc. since November 25, 2024, when it dropped “Video” from its corporate name (Zoom 8-K, 2024).

Zoom’s Anthropic stake was carried at $3.1 billion in July 2026

Zoom recorded $1.61 billion in unrealized gains on its Anthropic preferred stock in the quarter ended July 31, 2026, based on Anthropic’s financing round announced May 28, 2026, and carried the stake at $3.13 billion (Zoom 10-Q, 2026). Zoom invested another $300.9 million in Anthropic in the first half of fiscal 2027.

That gain is why GAAP net income jumped to $1.54 billion, from $358.6 million a year earlier. Non-GAAP net income, which excludes investment gains, was $464.0 million (Zoom Q2 FY2027 results, 2026). Anthropic’s share of enterprise AI spend is covered in LLM market share.

Zoom Phone passed 10 million paid seats in 2025

Zoom Phone surpassed 10 million paid seats early in the quarter ended October 31, 2025, with ARR growing in the mid-teens (Zoom Q3 FY2026 prepared remarks, 2025). Phone ARR was still “growing in the teens” in the quarter ended July 31, 2026 (Zoom Q2 FY2027 prepared remarks, 2026).

The milestones, in Zoom’s own words, which moved from seats “sold” to “paid seats” along the way:

Five customers had 100,000 or more Zoom Phone seats by April 2024, and cumulative Zoom Rooms licenses purchased passed 2 million (Zoom Q1 FY2025 prepared remarks, 2024). In the quarter ended January 31, 2026, a Fortune 10 company signed for 140,000 Zoom Phone seats, replacing Cisco calling (Zoom Q4 FY2026 prepared remarks, 2026).

Contact center and Workvivo are Zoom’s fastest-growing lines

Zoom Contact Center went from more than 500 customers in August 2023 to more than 1,250 in November 2024 (Zoom Q2 FY2024 prepared remarks, 2023; Zoom Q3 FY2025 prepared remarks, 2024). Customer count grew another 65% year over year by April 2025, when Zoom said its customer experience business had reached a “triple digit million ARR” (Zoom Q1 FY2026 prepared remarks, 2025).

Zoom Virtual Agent’s customer count grew 256% year over year in the quarter ended July 31, 2026, and paid AI was part of 9 of Zoom’s top 10 customer experience deals (Zoom Q2 FY2027 results and prepared remarks, 2026).

Workvivo, Zoom’s employee experience platform, passed $100 million in ARR in the same quarter (Zoom Q2 FY2027 prepared remarks, 2026). It had 1,225 customer logos in late 2025, up nearly 70% year over year (Zoom Q3 FY2026 prepared remarks, 2025).

Paid customers of Zoom Revenue Accelerator, its sales call product, grew 41% year over year (Zoom Q2 FY2027 prepared remarks, 2026).

Zoom vs Teams users: no like-for-like comparison since April 2020

April 2020 is the last month both companies published a comparable usage figure.

MetricZoomMicrosoft Teams
Meeting participants in a day, April 2020300 million+ (peak)200 million+ (single day)
Daily active users, April 2020Not disclosed75 million+
Monthly active users, latestNot disclosed320 million+ (October 2023)

Microsoft saw “more than 200 million meeting participants in a single day” in April 2020, generating more than 4.1 billion meeting minutes, and Teams had “more than 75 million daily active users” (Microsoft FY2020 Q3 earnings call, archived, 2020).

Teams had more than 320 million monthly active users in October 2023 (Microsoft FY2024 Q1 earnings call, 2023). Microsoft hasn’t given a newer Teams user count in its earnings calls through July 2026, by our reading; in April 2026 it said “hundreds of millions of Teams meetings” are added to its work data each day (Microsoft FY2026 Q3 earnings call, 2026). Slack’s numbers against Teams are in Slack statistics.

Any “Teams has X times more users than Zoom” ratio compares different metrics years apart, usually Teams’ 2023 monthly users against Zoom’s 2020 peak of daily participants. Zoom names Microsoft 365 (with Teams) and Google Workspace (with Meet) first in its list of competitors (Zoom 10-Q, 2026). For how the products differ, see Teams vs Zoom.

Booking the Zoom call and the follow-up after it

Every one of those Zoom meetings still needs a slot on everyone’s calendar, a link in the invite and a follow-up afterward. Carly connects to Zoom along with thousands of other apps. It finds a time across every calendar you use, creates the meeting with the Zoom link in the invite, sends reminders, and drafts the follow-up email once the call ends. For notes, it works with meeting recorders like Fathom, Fireflies or Granola. The best AI assistants for Zoom roundup compares the options.

FAQ

How many people use Zoom in 2026? Zoom doesn’t publish a user count. Its last platform-wide figure was a peak of more than 300 million daily meeting participants in April 2020, which counts a person once per meeting joined (Zoom, 2020). In 2026 it reports growth rates instead, such as paid AI Companion monthly active users up 184% year over year (Zoom, May 2026).

Does Zoom have 300 million daily users? No. Zoom’s April 22, 2020 blog post first said “300M daily users,” then changed it to “daily meeting participants” and called the original wording an oversight (Zoom, 2020). Participants are counted per meeting, so one person in five meetings counts five times.

What is Zoom’s revenue in 2026? $4.87 billion for fiscal 2026, which ended January 31, 2026 (Zoom, 2026). For fiscal 2027, ending January 31, 2027, Zoom guides to $5.085 to $5.095 billion, and its latest quarter, ended July 31, 2026, brought in $1.28 billion (Zoom, August 2026).

How many companies use Zoom? About 186,400 Enterprise customers as of January 31, 2026, the last time Zoom reported the number (Zoom, 2026), plus an undisclosed number of self-serve Online customers. 4,625 customers paid Zoom more than $100,000 over the 12 months to July 31, 2026 (Zoom, 2026).

Does Microsoft Teams have more users than Zoom? Probably, but no like-for-like figure exists. Teams reported more than 320 million monthly active users in October 2023 (Microsoft, 2023), and Zoom hasn’t published a user count since 2020. The last comparable numbers, from April 2020, were 300 million daily meeting participants for Zoom against 200 million in a single day for Teams.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.

Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.

On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
