Several Outlook mailboxes from different companies reaching one Grok conversation through Carly

Can Grok Connect to Multiple Outlook Accounts?

No, Grok can only hold one Outlook mailbox. Its Outlook connector reaches the signed-in user’s mailbox and nothing else, and it takes a Microsoft work or school account, so a personal Outlook.com or Hotmail address can’t connect at all. A second Microsoft 365 company means disconnecting and signing in again.

With Carly, Grok gets all of them. Add the Carly connector in Grok and it works across all of your Outlook accounts at once.

Do this instead

  1. Connect every Outlook mailbox at carlyassistant.com/integrations: each work account, personal Outlook.com, and any client mailbox you were given. Add your Gmail accounts there too.
  2. Go to grok.com/connectors, click New Connector, choose Custom, enter https://carlyassistant.com/mcp/ and sign in with your Carly account.
  3. Ask across all of them at once:

Check all my Outlook mailboxes for anything from Deloitte this week and tell me which threads still need a reply.

That is the whole setup. Get started at carlyassistant.com.

What Grok’s Outlook connector can hold

xAI’s Outlook connector page, last updated October 10, 2026, puts it plainly: “Grok can only access the mailbox of the signed-in user.” The sign-in is a Microsoft work or school account, and some companies need an administrator to approve Grok before anyone can connect.

Inside that one mailbox the connector is capable. It searches, reads full messages and attachments, drafts, sends, replies, forwards and files mail into folders. The limit is the count, not the features.

The mailbox Grok can’t see answers anyway

Grok answers from the account it holds and says nothing about the rest. Ask whether the signed contract came back and you get a confident no from your firm’s mailbox, while the contract sits in a client mailbox Grok never connected.

Swapping accounts doesn’t fix it. You get the mailboxes one at a time, so the questions worth asking stay out of reach: one client across every address you use, a morning brief that covers all of them, a thread at one company checked against your notes at another.

What you can automate across all of them

Carly also works your mailboxes when no chat is open. These run in every Outlook account you connect, and in Gmail too:

  • Text me when an urgent email arrives. A real person waiting on you, a deadline or money on the line sends a text to your phone. Routine mail stays quiet.
  • Sort every email into your Outlook categories or folders. Carly follows your rules the same way every time, uses the categories you already have, and leaves anything it is unsure about alone. Nothing is deleted.
  • Draft replies to the emails that need you. Carly reads the whole thread and saves a reply in your voice to Drafts. Newsletters and automated mail are skipped.
  • Get a morning brief across every mailbox. Urgent, needs action and FYI, grouped by account, before your first meeting.
  • Chase threads that went quiet. Each weekday Carly finds threads where you sent the last message and drafts the follow-up.
  • Turn mail into tasks. A client request becomes a Microsoft To Do or Planner task, and a new enquiry becomes a deal in your CRM.

Carly connects to thousands of apps, so the far end of any automation can be a tool you already pay for. Browse more at carlyassistant.com/workflows.

What Grok reaches once Carly is connected

  • Every Outlook mailbox in one question, work and personal, across as many companies as you work with.
  • Personal Outlook.com and Hotmail, the addresses Grok’s own connector refuses.
  • Shared mailboxes as real mailboxes. billing@ or support@ connects on its own and Carly replies from it.
  • Every calendar on both sides, so “find a time next week” checks all of them before it books.
  • Phone and text. Carly can text you about the mail that matters, and with Carly for teams it answers your business line too.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect two Outlook accounts to Grok?

Not with Grok’s own connector. xAI documents it as reaching only the signed-in user’s mailbox, so the second account replaces the first. Connect both to Carly and add the Carly connector once, and Grok reaches them together.

Does Grok work with a personal Outlook.com or Hotmail address?

Not through its Outlook connector, which asks for a Microsoft work or school account. Personal Microsoft addresses connect to Carly like any other mailbox, and Grok reaches them through the Carly connector.

Can Grok read a shared mailbox?

No. Grok’s permissions cover your own mailbox and calendar, not those belonging to other people, which rules out billing@ and team inboxes. In Carly a shared mailbox connects as its own mailbox.

Do I need my Microsoft 365 admin?

Sometimes. Companies that restrict third-party apps ask an administrator to approve the connection first, for Grok’s connector and for Carly alike. Each company approves on its own, so one admin saying no does not block the others. The Carly team can handle the admin request for you.

How many Outlook accounts can Carly hold?

As many as you connect at carlyassistant.com/integrations. Add a client mailbox when the engagement starts and remove it when the work ends, without touching the others.

See what people say

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.

Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.

On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
