How to Add Google Meet to Google Calendar (2026)
Adding a Google Meet link to a calendar event gives every guest a one-click way to join a video call. Google Calendar can attach the link manually per event, or generate one automatically on every meeting you create — and removing one is just as quick.
This guide covers adding, automating, and removing Meet links on the web, Android, and iPhone or iPad.
1. Add Google Meet to an Event on the Web
Google Calendar on the web:
- Open calendar.google.com
- Click Create → Event, or open an existing event and click the pencil (Edit) icon
- Click Add Google Meet video conferencing
- A Meet link and dial-in details are generated instantly
- Add your guests under Add guests so they receive the link in the invite
- Click Save
Guests get the join link in their invitation and on the event card. When it’s time, anyone can click Join with Google Meet straight from the event.
2. Add Google Meet on Mobile
The mobile app calls the button Add video conferencing but the result is identical.
Google Calendar app (Android & iPhone / iPad):
- Open the Google Calendar app
- Tap the + button → Event, or tap an existing event and tap Edit (pencil)
- Tap Add video conferencing
- If you have other conferencing add-ons installed, choose Google Meet
- The Meet link appears in the event details
- Tap Save
3. Make Google Meet Links Automatic
If most of your events are video calls, have Google Calendar attach a Meet link to every event you create — no clicking required.
Google Calendar on the web:
- Click the gear icon (top-right) → Settings
- In the left sidebar, click Event settings
- Check Automatically add Google Meet video conferences to events I create
- The setting saves automatically
From now on, every new event gets a Meet link by default. You can still remove it on individual events where you don’t need video.
Note: This toggle lives only in the web settings — there’s no equivalent switch in the mobile app, but the preference applies to events you create on any device once it’s on.
4. Remove a Google Meet Link
You can strip the Meet link from any single event without affecting your automatic setting.
Google Calendar on the web:
- Open the event and click the pencil (Edit) icon
- Next to the Google Meet join details, click the X (remove)
- Click Save
Google Calendar app (mobile):
- Open the event and tap Edit
- Tap the X next to the video conferencing details
- Tap Save
To stop adding links automatically across the board, go back to Settings → Event settings and uncheck Automatically add Google Meet video conferences.
5. Use a Different Conferencing Tool Instead
If your team uses Zoom, Teams, or Webex, you can swap in those links instead of Meet.
- Install the conferencing add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace (admin approval may be required on Workspace accounts)
- When creating an event, click the video conferencing dropdown and pick the tool you want
- The add-on generates that platform’s join link in place of Meet

Troubleshooting
The “Add Google Meet video conferencing” button is missing.
This usually means Meet is disabled for your Workspace account by an admin, or your organization restricts video conferencing. On a personal account it should always appear — try refreshing or signing out and back in.
Google Meet link isn’t showing up for guests.
Make sure you added guests before saving and that you didn’t remove the link. Re-open the event, confirm the Meet details are present, and click Save again to resend the updated invite.
Automatic Meet links stopped appearing on new events.
Check Settings → Event settings and confirm Automatically add Google Meet video conferences is still ticked. The toggle can reset if your account was migrated or your admin changed conferencing defaults.
I can’t change the Meet link or generate a new one.
A given event keeps its original Meet link. To get a fresh link, remove video conferencing, save, then add Google Meet again — this generates a new join code.
Guests get “you can’t join this video call.”
External guests may be blocked by your Workspace’s Meet sharing settings. Ask your admin to allow external participants, or make sure each guest is added to the event so they’re on the approved list.

"Before Carly, I relied on a Calendly link, but the whole process felt impersonal and not very professional. Carly changed that by handling all the back-and-forth, so I'm no longer stuck in endless email threads trying to line up schedules.
Now Carly reaches out to candidates, shares my real-time availability, lets them pick a slot, then sends a Zoom link and drops it straight into my calendar. She sends reminders to both of us before each call, which has significantly reduced no-shows and last-minute confusion.
On top of scheduling, Carly acts like a full executive assistant, sending me my schedule the night before so I can prepare for each call. It reminds me of the old x.ai assistant, but Carly is noticeably smarter, faster, and better suited to my healthcare recruitment business."
