How to Schedule a Google Meet (2026)

The cleanest way to schedule a Google Meet is to attach it to a Google Calendar event — the link, guest list, and reminders all travel together. You can also do it from Gmail or the Meet app. Here’s each route.

Schedule from Google Calendar

  1. Open Google Calendar and click Create > Event (or click an empty time slot).
  2. Add a title, date, and start/end time.
  3. Click Add Google Meet video conferencing. A join link appears instantly.
  4. Under Add guests, type the email addresses of the people you want to invite.
  5. Click Save, then Send to email the invitation.

Every guest gets the event with the Meet link built in, so there’s no separate link to copy around. To make it repeat, see how to set up a recurring Google Meet.

Schedule from Gmail

  1. In Gmail, open the Meet section in the left sidebar (or the Meet icon).
  2. Click New meeting > Schedule in Google Calendar.
  3. Calendar opens a new event with Meet already added — fill in the time and guests, then Save.

Schedule from the Meet App or Website

  1. Go to meet.google.com or open the Meet app.
  2. Click New meeting.
  3. Choose Schedule in Google Calendar to set a future time, or Create a meeting for later to generate a reusable link you can send now and start whenever.

Create a meeting for later is handy when you want a link in advance but don’t need a calendar invite.

Once the meeting is on the calendar, you can grab the link anytime: open the event and copy the Join with Google Meet link, or just forward the invite. Anyone with the link can join, subject to your waiting-room and access settings.

Troubleshooting

There’s no “Add Google Meet video conferencing” button

You may be signed in to an account where Meet is turned off, or Meet isn’t the default conferencing tool. Switch to your Google account, or set Meet as the default in Calendar settings under Event settings.

Make sure you clicked Save and Send so the invite actually went out, and that guests open the link with the account you invited. Re-share the event if needed.

I need it to repeat every week

Open the event, set the Does not repeat dropdown to a recurrence (daily, weekly, custom), and save. Full steps are in how to set up a recurring Google Meet.

The time is wrong for some guests

Calendar shows each guest the event in their own time zone, but double-check the event’s time zone (click the time, then the time-zone link) if you’re inviting people across regions.
