ChatGPT Work With Multiple Accounts (2026)
ChatGPT Work is the agentic surface: you hand it an outcome and it works through the steps. That only helps if the connected apps include every account the outcome depends on.
They usually do not. ChatGPT’s Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive, Outlook, and Outlook Calendar apps each authorize one identity. OpenAI’s Google app FAQ says ChatGPT can access content from “the Google account you choose to connect.” Connecting a second Google login replaces the first. The Microsoft side is the same shape: one mailbox, one calendar, unless you are talking about a shared mailbox you already have access to.
Connector authorization is per identity, not per person. ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini each hold one Google account at a time, so the second inbox is reachable only by replacing the first. Both OpenAI and Anthropic have open feature requests asking for several named accounts on one connector, which is a fair signal that it is not possible today.

What “multiple accounts” means inside Work

The mixed case — work Outlook and personal Gmail — is the one native apps handle, because they are different providers. Two Gmails, or two Outlooks, or work Google plus personal Google, are the ones that fail.
What the native apps can do on the account they have
On the connected Gmail or Outlook, Work can search mail, draft, and send after you approve. Sending is available on the web for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise. Shared and delegated Outlook mailboxes are documented: you pass the mailbox owner’s address and Work can read, file, and send plain-text mail from that mailbox. That is not a second personal login. It is a mailbox the first login can already open.
On calendars the rules split. Outlook Calendar is read-only on your own calendar and writable on shared calendars you can access. Google Calendar reads on Plus and Pro; writes are a workspace-plan action an admin has to enable. See ChatGPT Work and calendar for the full split.
None of that adds a second Google identity or a second Microsoft tenant.
Account switching is two ChatGPTs
OpenAI documents account switching for keeping more than one ChatGPT login signed in on the web. Each login has its own chats, files, memory, workspaces, and connected apps. OpenAI does not document a way for those sessions to share connected apps.
That is useful for keeping a personal ChatGPT next to a company workspace. It is not one Work task that can search both Gmails or check both calendars.
Workspace admins can narrow it further
On Business and Enterprise, admins decide which apps exist, which actions they may take, and — where the control is available — which email domains members are allowed to connect. A workspace that only allows @company.com will refuse the personal Gmail even if the product model could hold it.
Write actions on Google and Microsoft apps are off until an admin turns them on under workspace app settings. The default user approval preference still asks before important actions such as sends and appointments. Leave that on.
The setup that actually holds both accounts
Carly connects each identity separately, then Work talks to Carly once.
- Sign in at carlyassistant.com.
- Open carlyassistant.com/integrations.
- Connect Gmail or Outlook for the first identity. Approve access. Confirm the full address.
- Connect the same provider again. Choose Use another account if the first login is preselected.
- Repeat for Calendar on each identity that has one.
- Give each account a role: Personal, Main Company, Client.
Then add Carly to ChatGPT:
- Open Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar.
- Click +.
- Enter

OpenAI's app directory became a plugin directory on July 9, 2026, shared between ChatGPT and Codex. Plugins are packages that can carry apps, skills, or app templates — a repackaging of how things are listed and discovered, not a change to the MCP plumbing underneath.
If + is disabled, the workspace admin has to allow the plugin. Custom remote MCP, including write actions, is documented on Business and Enterprise through developer mode. Pro is documented for read and fetch.

If the ChatGPT workspace is company-managed, keep the personal account out of it, or run the personal side from a personal ChatGPT login talking to the same Carly workspace. Do not paste personal mail into a company workspace to work around the connector.
